Dave hakstol was absolute garbage - gerbe75pts
one man's trash is another man's treasure
after rolston, nolan, disco sucks and housley
I find it hard to believe there is a worse guy to put behind the bench then what we have seen the last 6 plus years |

Vegas should still be playing. The refs screwed them there. |

Dave Hakstol had zero pro experience before being hired in Philly. Quinn from the rangers was a Colorado assistant for 1 year 6 years ago and is now the HC of the Rangers. Pro experience isn't as much of a requirement as it used to be - jcragcrumple
College coaches at least coach a normal team through a traditional season. The only coach I can think of with such an atypical background is Rolston. I imagine I'm not the only one who doesn't think he was qualified.

Give the Wild a pick for the bald guy behind the bench. |

Jacques Martin is unbelievably qualified by traditional standards, but that doesn't make him a better option than a non-traditional candidate.
We shouldn't be dismissing candidates out of hand without interviews because they don't conform to orthodox thinking |

Anyone know what Botterill's contract length is? If he's in his last year it wouldn't surprise me to see him hire a traditional/safe candidate to just get the sabres to 8th so he can get an extension. |

C'mon man. He's a head coach at the world championship where our GM is as well. That's an absurd comment. Interviewing him while Botterill conducts his team Canada business should fall under due diligence |

Absurd to make a point. You can't interview everyone. Not interviewing also doesn't mean there was no conversation or contact with him. |

If he doesn’t win the Selke this year while being the best defensive forward while also being on a 95 point pace it’s a shame.
It’s lunacy Crosby wasn’t a candidate - OneKaneOneCup
It’s not that he wasn’t a candidate
The votes are already in and he didn’t finish in the Top3, so he wasn’t announced as a “finalist”
Thought you’d know that |

When you're at the same tournament as a coach with a desire to coach here, and enough prominence to get an interview on sports radio, as well as consistent coverage on multiple online outlets, you can and should interview that candidate |

Even if I did, it's not a leap to suggest that he'd look out for himself. Especially if he wasn't really big on anyone available. |

Any consideration is more than enough for me. He was always a fringe candidate. I also don't think it's a coincidence that he decided now was finally the time to take a traditional head coaching job.

This is what I keep saying. There's 4 coachless teams right now, and not a one formally interviewed him. For being such a 'high profile' candidate, it sure seems odd not a single franchise was interested. Not only did he immediately take a job in Europe, he said as much about how there was no formal interest.
To speculate, I wonder if some teams wanted him as an assistant, and he didn't budge. NHL head coach or bust. |

Blue Jackets president John Davidson wouldn't offer a firm confirmation or denial when the speculation about him becoming the next president of the New York Rangers was brought up.
"Right now, I'm working for the Blue Jackets and that's where it sits," Davidson said. So we'll see what the future holds. Davidson does have a long history with the Rangers. He played for them and after his career ended, he served as a color commentator for Rangers games with MSG from 1986–87 to 2005–0 |

IMO, either of those guys would have been a major improvement on Housley and whatever coach we end up with.
