This narrative is really wrong. Teams were publicly expressing interest in Nylander ..St Louis and Carolina were two. These teams obviously were aware of what Nylander was looking for. It also ignores that offer sheets are all but non-existent.

The comps are all there ....he was always going to get 6.5+ unless they went with a 2-3 yr bridge.

Dubas's mistake, which he essentially admitted to, was letting it get that far. He should have set a summertime deadline and been prepared to move him if they weren't on the same page by that date. The deadline should be July 1st ...if he doesn't sign then spend the money in free agency and move him for picks/prospects.
