I agree what you're saying but I see it more in terms of NA hockey than Canada vs everyone else. USA hockey is a direct result of Canadian influence. Euro hockey is a different beast.
8 out of the top 10 scorers this season were from NA (3 in top 5). Only 3 players in the top 15 were from outside NA. I'm ok with that. - bloatedmosquito
I don't really consider it like that seeing we are in competition with the US I don't lump us in under the same category . They are one of the nations that have pumped more money into their program and are maybe top 3 in the world.
I see at least 5 top picks going to the US this year . Byram (Can ) would be the only on in my top 10 but I know that Cozens and Dach could be there too .
I think anyone taking Dach and Cozens in their top 10 are making big mistakes but that is only my opinion not the general consensus . |

Just accept Broberg/Soderstrom now like I have and save yourself the disappointment on draft day
wait until they both get a personal tour of the city by the Sedins a week before the draft. |

Both are better than the two Canadians. You just keep away from the avatar bets this year or you will be sporting this next year

Picking high floor guys in the top 10 = bust potential (same boat as Soderstrom). IMO his ceiling is much lower than most evaluators think. So much about his skillset reminds me of Steve Bernier
None of Cozens, Podkolzin, Caufield, Soderstrom, Broberg are in my top 15. |

I don’t like him either but I’d prefer him to everyone else in your list! Unlike Bernier he can fly. |

I am going over the last couple of years to make my evaluation not this summers tournaments.
Canada use to be the best nation at hockey and now may have slipped to 4-6 . The best players at the draft in the last few years are coming from other countries.
In past drafts Canada would usually have at least 5 of the top 10 in each draft , now we are around 3 .
Other countries are pumping more money into their Development while we are still operating the same way we did 15 years ago.
As a father who wants his 6 year old to play hockey, our country does very little to help make it affordable. My wife and I are lower middle class, and couldn't hope to afford the registration fee's, but won't qualify for any programs to assist with that. |

It is an estimated(from a 2012 survery) $3,000 per year for hockey. Gear, registration, tournaments, etc. Probably more now. Some places are less, some are more. One thing that i remember was a recent article, in which Wayne Gretzky was interviewed. He said that the way it is today, there is no way his parents could have afforded to put him in hockey. Imagine a world where there was no Wayne Gretzky, or other greats simply because their parents couldn't afford to put them in at a young age.
EDIT: Google hockey costs and you will find articles dating back to the mid 2000's about how the costs are keeping kids out of the sport. Imagine how much better hockey would be today if more kids could have played over the last 15 years. Imagine a draft where McDavid wasn't considered generational because of the talent available. |

Football as well. My son plays flag right now(Tackle doesn't start until 10) and the registration is not very high, the gear is provided as well. |

Yeah I heard football was on the rise . It would be more popular if there wasn't the concussion issue . That frightens some of the parents. |
