When he took over in 2014, they were 14th/20th. By 2016, they were 6th and on the verge of a champions league spot

I don't know the specifics of what happened ,but this is the way for smaller clubs. They have windows of being good/bad a lot like NHL teams because of the cap/budget restraints.

I don't know if he'll be good or not as HC. In the short term its moot because expectations are below sea level and Botts has gotta add.

Long term who knows? Most coaches in the NHL are retreads, at least this isn't that. I dig the risk in the move. Hopefully it works out
