If he was hired over the competition, it was obviously viewed as either irrelevant or that he has a handle on how to manage a roster. It's extremely significant to surround himself with quality assistants. But he's the outside the box hire fans are clamoring for, except god forbid he's almost 60. If the man can coach, the man can coach. If he was 80 I'd be concerned, but he's younger than my dad and my dad coaches in a professional organization, and seems to be doing fine for himself.

Based on what some Edmonton fans say about Krueger I'm hopeful and want to be cautiously optimistic that he was the right hire.

A few things

1) Who he gets to fill out his staff? An experienced NHL coach would help as his main assistant.

2) What moves Botts makes this summer to improve the team.

3) Will Skinner be open to an extension now that the coach is hired?

Can anyone here put together a cohesive plan OR, are you all enjoying the negativity and the downside? Which one of you is GM quality? And, besides Kaiser, how many of you insiders knew about this coaching hire? If you were on the inside, you would probably be pulling the strings.

How about we give this one a chance? Josh Allen is NOT out of the league, even though he was drafted and the majority of Bills fans wrote him off before hitting the field. Dahlin is NOT in the HOF (yet? - hopeful). Krueger is NOT Housley.

Perhaps we should watch the off-season, pay attention to the roster surgery to come, watch training camp and then get to the season. Nothing happened today but a step in the direction of improvement (TBD - I know).

It has to be very difficult for the message board folks to carry this much disdain towards one thing on a daily basis. Tiresome.......................

Nothing shocks me about this team. However, there's absolutely no reason to write him off. He carries a lot of positive attributes that I'd recommend you reed about.

There's literally no reason for pessimism. If he carries a lot of traits Housley's never even heard of, then we're already better. He embraces analytics. How often are we sitting here female doging about lineups and kids on the 4th line? I suspect, if Botterill correctly addresses the roster, we'll have much less of Nylander and Lockport, and Risto and Scandella on #1 pair.
