Until Nylander starts going to the dirty areas he is going to be a bust IMO

He has so much talent but doesn't have the heart IMO

- Stripes77

Then start him in the AHL. If motivation is the issue, I imagine eventually he will tire of his diminished career.

It was weird, he turned 21 and he started doing more. He wasn't grinding in the corners, but was attacking the net more. I think he's starting to understand the game. He's still young. I have hope, whether that is misguided is a horse of another pasture entirely.

NYS (i know this didnt happen in NYS) established laws related to this before the Millennial generation existed. The ones who are over-serving alcohol are responsible for the results related to their actions. The bartender is altering the patrons' ability to make good decisions, so they can be held liable if they over-serve to a dangerous degree. Over-serving is illegal for this very reason.

They knew this employee, and knew that he drove, and continued to serve him

- jcragcrumple

"over-serving" is one of the most grey rules in DWI law.

I saw that.

Did you see how much they are suing him for? $15,000

That's it.

I bet he pays that for this to go away

It sucks, they (the plaintiffs) say their child had a known drinking problem and the staff at the Woods kept serving him.

While I understand the law here, what happened to personal accountability?

It's a double edged sword. Who knows what the deceased bartender said during his time at the restaurant?

Maybe he said he was getting an Uber home?

But in a lawsuit they're always going to go after the people with money because you can't get blood from a stone.

- Stripes77

Wasn't it more than $15,000....they can only disclose if it's more or less than that.

yep...

Bill would be a great fit. I get the sentiment.

I'm higher than everyone but Gerbe on Nylander. I still think this kid has what his brother has, the light switch needs to be flipped. Call me crazy, it's a little crazy I know.

- RhinoFan

What are you seeing in nylander aside from hope?

Lacks effort
Often injured
Not scoring at regularly in the ahl
Not a " away from the puck" guy
8th over 3 years ago already, still a question mark

End of his ELC, or until his value spikes. If he's hardly worth anything, there's really no reason to get rid of him while he's on ELC. If he's needed to complete a package like Grigorenko, then you need to think hard about his upside vs flaws.

Ah I read it on a different site and it just said $15,000

But yeah this is probably a multi million dollar law suit

If they really push this and it goes in court this could get ugly

Yeah, I'm just saying it's not a millennial thing. These laws have existed for a while for cases such as this where they know the employee and they know that he has to drive home. Also, I'm not a lawyer, I just play one on the internet

It could...but I would say it settles out of court and we don't hear about it again. Would restaurants have insurance that cover cases like this?

I was ready to call him a bust last year. Unfortunately, like I said he turned it around in the AHL, got called up and didn't look out of place.

So, longer than we have waited thus far.

Waiting for the news for Vlad Sobotka to return to Czechia. Then we'll have a trifecta of players dumping themselves into the garbage bin.
- TheSabresTaco

I want nothing more than to see that. That'd be what.... 5+M in cap space cleared today and didn't cost us an asset to move it

For the record I am not calling him a bust. I am just saying how much more patient with him can you be?

It seemed like Guhle was on the way out last year, I'd guess the same for Nylander this year. Take the best offer for Nylander + late first

He had 26 pts in his final 33 games in the AHL. I would say he scored pretty regularly down there after a slow start based on those stats.

He's been injured yes. That also effects development.

I am not saying that if the right trade came along I wouldn't ship him off, but I can see him turning into a solid middle 6 guy that can play PP. Nothing more than that.

Oh no, I get it.

Like I said, still "hoping" for him may be crazy. I was surprised, pleasantly, by how he ended the year.

I would give him this year. Others would not. It's a debate for sure. Can't begrudge anyone from labeling him a bust at this point, a top10 pick should be impactful by now. He wasn't the best pick at 8 by far. No argument to any of that.

Buffalo can't have a coach who doesn't speak Swedish!! Look at our Swedish team!

I also realize people don't know how to look at AHL stats. DET fans were calling Mantha a bust a few years ago and now he is their best F outside of Larkin.
