Is that what you read? I had read that they wouldn't be ready to even skate/condition until almost a month into the season. Missing all of camp would put them behind quite a bit IMO.

Yep he will be available

Caufield at 7 seems early especially for a guy who's going to college. I know he is a +++ goal scorer but do you pass on guys like Turcotte, Boldy, Kaliyev, and Krebs for him?

With 8M to spare too? Could add a top 6 RW for that easily.

Sign me up.

I wish that goaltending could be improved, but we are kind of stuck. The overall team improvement may solve some of that issue.

Good armchair edition.

Gotta save some money with Reinhart getting a raise and Dahlin a year behind him

That also leaves wiggle room for more money to spend on the signing if I am too low

When you tie Ovechkin’s record that was set in 2003 and score a total of 72 goals killing the records set by Patrick Kane and Phil Kessel and absolutely destroying Auston Matthews record

And ending up with 126 goals in 123 games

He broke every record set he should be our pick I hope

The real question isn't if he's a good goal scorer. It's whether or not that will transition to the pros. He's small, it will be harder for him to get to the scoring areas.

Also, we must remember that USA team is literally stacked with players. Playing with Jack Hughes helped him break those records.

Just was curious. I know everyone is high on Dahlin just didn't know how high.

Keep the high end talent and supplement it via trading picks and a dman like Risto or McCabe. Target cap casualty players who are good but either not quite worth the contract, or take on additional bad contract to lower the asking price. That's what I'm hoping for. I am a minority of 1 who thinks they should trade 7oa

It works both ways. Marty St, Theo Fleury, Brendan Gallagher, all little guys that did great.

There are also the Conacher's, Ennis's and Gerbe's. (No offense to the Gerbish)

I expect given his high draft rank that Caufield will be good. However, I remember folks saying Sami Kapanen was going to be a HOFer after he moved to the Hurricanes and started producing big numbers as a 20 year old.

He had a decent career, but fell short (pun intended) of his true potential. His size was what hindered him, not his shot or speed.

That is true but those players don’t have a Resume like Caufield when you break records like Patrick Kane, Phil Kessel’s , Ovechkin you deserve to be talked about in the top 10 if he was not small you have no problem talking him at 8 correct ? After cats , Johnny hockey , Arvidson , Marchand , Atkinson Teams will not ignore this time

A players draft spot should be irrelevant as soon as they are drafted. He is a prospect not an 8th overall pick.

That's not how expectations work

Expectations are higher when a player is drafted 8th overall

Well no poop. That isn't the point. Its 3 years later. You have to understand he is a prospect and where he is at on his development curve is okay. Maybe he isn't an electrifying top line talent he had a ceiling for.

Agree to disagree

I am personally not happy that a guy we purposely lost for , has 30 goals in the ahl at 21 years old.
Over 3 years

Many of the other guys picked around him in that draft are performing well at the nhl level.i guess their development curve is perfect?

Nylanders development curve may be fine with you, but dont try and make it seem like it's ok to suck.

Another interesting one, Tiger is asked about John Daly being allowed to use a golf cart this week at the PGA: "I walked with a broken leg, so . . ."

If Tiger wins this does he return to his old form of not talking to anybody and back to focusing on destroying everyone?
