What is today's topic of argument, looks like Fourth line quality? - opeth_pa
a 4th line of Raffl-Laughts-Hartman
1. How it would improve the entire makeup of the roster
IF
Fletcher plugged in the holes of moving these guys down in the lineup with a couple top 6 guys.
Pretty standard stuff... |

Line combos change constantly, but to start the season, I'll be happy if that's our fourth line. If any one of Varone, Knight or Bailey are in the lineup I will be highly disappointed. Quite honestly, I don't even want Misha or NAK to be pencilled into the opening night roster. If any of them force their way into the lineup after the season starts then good for them.
I want Fletcher to go out and get two legitimate top 9 forwards, preferably one of them is top 6. Easier said then done. |

I think it was me who mentioned it, or maybe not, I know im not the only one who thinks this, but its not automatically stating it as a fact bro. None of this is fact, its all speculation/hypothetical/what you'd like to see/ etc etc etc etc. My thoughts were is that if we can make that our fourth line, fill in the holes that it would make, which I think would be either a top line guy and a 2nd line guy or 2 2nd line guys, then you can have a roster where you can roll all 4 lines and don't have much of a drop off, or have to see guys like Lehtera, Knight, Varone, etc etc.
Get it? - sjk540
The flip side of that change is that isn't it possible that one or more of those players could be traded in a deal so they wouldn't make up the 4th line? If we're talking hypotheticals, isn't that a possibility? Or can we only use hypotheticals that are agreeable to the group think?

so I’m game...who do you want to hypothetically trade?
Better...who are we getting in trade?
I didn’t think you liked to engage in fantasy. |

lol: I don't want to hypothetically trade anyone. I'm not against the Flyers making smart hockey trades as long as it is not youth for older players.

We should add a first to that to make sure it gets done.

In general, I agree. I can kind of see that occurring in a hockey trade of defenseman, but that is because we have 6 d-men 26 and under. Honestly, that’s the biggest question of the offseason for me. In the end, as long as we create a better balanced defense and it results in team success, everyone will be able to live with it.

How are you defining youth for older players?

Unless it is for a return of a similar aged defenseman, I see a trade of any of the Flyers top young defenseman as a mistake.

If you're threatening to boycott a team over a stupid statue were you ever really a fan anyway? The continued butt hurt over this is ridiculous. |

If you mean 3 or 4 years, around age 25 to 29 depending on who...then yes. It would really help to have a little more experience and another righty, imo. I have said I don’t want to trade at least 4 of them for sure, but we’ll see.

Someone brought it up before, maybe SSB, but I can see Dallas looking to make a shake up this summer. Maybe a good trade partner. I'd have some real interest in hearing what they want for Seguin. |

No I mean similar age. Sanheim, Myers and Provorov are all 23 and younger. Gostisbehere is 26.

Yes...I meant your definition of “similar.” So if Ghost (26) traded for a 29 year old, Hagg (24) traded for a 28 year old, or Sanheim (23) traded for a 25 year old—are those similar ages in your opinion? Because we are so young, it would seem likely that whoever we traded for would be at least a little older. |

Fletcher could view Scott Laughton and Ryan Hartman as third line players, so no, it really isn’t. Both of which saw of third line time last season. |

It's not my job to help you follow along. The person I was speaking to knew what I was talking about. I don't know why you're even still mentioning me. Looking dumb here. - Ftown19125
It’s not your job but if you responded to things accordingly and in away people understood, like a normal person who knows how to use a basic message board, there would be no confusion. |

I think maybe we have talked it to death, but I’ll go ahead and throw a few more bites out there.
Raffl is the only one of the Raffl, Laughton and Hartman trio that could feasibly get bumped down to the 13 spot if some unexpected rookie plays out of their mind. There are a lot of roster scenarios where one of Laughton or Hartman are needed in a 3rd line role, especially Laughton if G is at center. And there is the injury factor—making it unlikely that the trio are able to play the entire season together. - NC Flyers Fan
Finally, somebody with common sense. I thank you for this. |
