Going back in the thread a bit here. I's not that Sandin couldn't turn out really well even at 19-20, it is merely against the odds. I would love it if he could step right in and be awesome, I just wouldn't bet on it.

Marner couldn't go because he doesn't have a contract, and Matthews had surgery. If Nylander had turned Sweden down I believe he would have bern criticized as lazy in thousands of posts.

How about moving Willy, now that he's back in the good books with the fanboy types? If someone wants to offer the Leafs a top 4 defender, then jump on it! Willy looks good on a big rink, because he can skate even more on the outside and make those Bolshoi moves. Losing that $7M cap hit is a must. Leafs need to get bigger and tougher, if they ever want to win a round in the playoffs. Time for Mr. Metrosexual to grow a pair and make the proper moves to get this team to another level.

I too hope it's a confidence issue. IMO it is an issue of caring enough to take the hit to make the play. To go into the dirty areas and play hard. Maybe just me but.
