And you’re not getting Malkin. - Rinosaur
I’m fine with that. Kings don’t need to be getting a 33 year old player that gets hurt constantly. Lol

Kopitar is turning 32. Malkin turning 33. They are almost 1 year apart.
Kopitar August 87
Malkin July 86 - KINGS67
And yet Malkin is still better and has a better contract. Nonetheless the swap would be stupid for all parties. |

Habs would probably be looking to make that splash on the back end... and there's a good chance Suzuki plays the RW in Montreal - obie
Who do you think they could target? |

I’d say they are actually pretty damn close in production. Kopitar stays healthy Malkin doesn’t |

Lindholm in Anaheim would be great... Lindell maybe, Bergevin loves the RFA... maybe Theodore in Vegas... a few options I think |

Lindell would be a bad idea imo. The other 2 I like. |

I meant in recent years. Kopitar is on average 60-70. Malkin closer to 65-75 (granted in less games). Full season malkin hits 80-90 points but he hasn’t played a full season in at least 5 years or so
I still wouldn’t make the trade. I’m fine with Kopitar. Too bad he can’t score 30 on a regular basis. 🥴 |

Why a bad idea? He's a pretty solid D... he would be the cheaper of the 3 for sure |

242-204 points in favor of Malkin the last 3 seasons.
96-69 goals in favor of Malkin the last 3 seasons.
So yeah basically the same production... |

Bad puck mover. Not great in his own zone. Good at forcing dump ins though. |

Which again is why I say I don’t know they’d give the Pens what they want. |

Well Nylander is a lot better and younger than Drouin, but yeah, even so, I'd trade Nylander for Malkin in a heartbeat. |

What are these pieces that Vancouver would give up?
...I'll wait - obie
Realistically, If they were even remotely interested, they would start with this years 1st, Virtanen, and bunch of secondary draft picks/B level prospects. Maybe a Madden, but I’m not sure they would deal him. It’s a young mans game now. |

Not by much. Malkin spent a lot of time with Hornqvist and Hagelin. Kessel is better sure. But Kopitar has had a good chunk of time with Toffoli too. |

And while many will point to his defensive play, it doesn't compensate for that. Malkin is not just better, it's a wide margin. |
