Just reading about this speech that Chrystia Freeland gave at Washington DC’s Brookings Institution. Kind of scary stuff. Being dubbed the "Freeland Doctrine” it essentially calls for the end of globalization. It lays out groundwork for a new global trade regime that blocks out Russia and China mostly.

Her proposal is very similar to one that was recently presented by U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, but Freeland’s proposal is much more aggressive.

What amazes me is that globalization was a key platform for progressive political parties. Now they are presenting the groundwork for a new Cold War. As I said, kind of scary stuff.

Most states saw a decline in population over Covid because immigration was slowed or halted during that time. The exception was Texas. But even in Texas, some cities declined in population (like Dallas and Houston) while others exploded, especially around Austin and San Antonio.

And what was the demographic that increased the most in Texas? Non-American latinos. I’m sure that ain’t mentioned on the Proud Boys recruitment brochure.

As for California, there are many factors at play aside from politics. Increased death rate (covid?, old age?), lower birth rate, less immigration and people moving out of state which many did because of the cost of housing.
