“Wow: The @BCNDP-created @bcibinc Crown corporation grew full-time equivalents by 37% last year to a whopping 1,239. Yet, it has delivered only one project -- 2 km, four-laning of Hwy 1 near Revelstoke. #bcpoli”

Canada and BC is in such disarray, what a mess of a country.

The public sector grows while the private sector remains stagnant or declines. Both nationally and provincially.
I'm really hoping the Canadian Future Party turns into a legitimate party.

Communist BC NDP

“One example among many: BC Railway still a going concern 20 years after all but 40km of track leased out to CN. 2 execs paid $500k between them to manage—what? Yet NDP says any attempt to rein in govt spending would mean firing nurses, teachers.”

“The NDP is playing with fire with our public finances. 5 billions this year, budget said 8 next year (and I suspect it'll be worse). Debt has more than tripled since 2017.”

I mean, politically, it’s a bit of a mess sure. For example, my wife and I are considering voting conservative in the next provincial election because of a single issue that the NDP has totally (frank)ed up. Many of the things they are doing or trying to do we see as beneficial, but this one thing…

But, if you ignore politics to a degree, life in BC (well, on the Island anyway) is pretty good. Making good $, early retirement on track, weather is decent.

It's the best place to live in Canada, no question, my personal opinion, having grown up there. However, it's pretty hard to ignore the gross incompetence of the current government, they're spending more now (I read) than they were in the height of Covid, which is absurd!!

My wife and I spent a good portion of the summer back home in Victoria, after living in Arizona for several years we were shocked at how much the every day things in life cost. You don't really get it until your reference point slides. It is much more affordable to live down here.

It can't be that affordable if you still have to work? How much did you pay for rent in Canada or did you leech off of family/friends? Maybe/probably you're just a cheap female genitalia, but hey whatever works man!

I’ve been saying for several years now that the problem in the US (and western culture generally) is that we’re too concerned about our rights and not concerned enough about our responsibilities.

It's actually become comical now. I'm looking forward to heading south and distancing myself from the Canada and US bullsh!t.

Mexico isn't perfect but it's a refreshing change.

An old friend of mine went down there to visit some other old friends who moved down there and opened a shop in Tulum. He's been missing for about 10 years now. He's a (frank) up so who knows what kind of trouble he got himself into.

Probably not. He struggled in and out of street life. Heard he was messing with H down there after joining a band or something. He's a Brit and first name is Nigel just in case you see him and his guitar around.... A lot of his friends back in TO are convinced he's a gonner. But if you do know him, tell him to give Little O a shout. He'll know who I'm talking about.

That area has a lot of Cartel activity, if you're an expat you need to be careful not to overstep the boundaries in that regard. Hopefully that didn't happen to your friend.

I live amongst the locals, respect the rules, laws and traditions. No problem, you still keep your eyes open though.

You should come to America, it's a lot safer than that. You don't have to keep one eye open to ensure your safety.

It's no different here than it is in Canada, it terms of day-to-day life, having lived in both places for many years. What's amazing though, is the two absolute idiots that they've nominated for President from both parties. It's so laughable. Canada isn't much better though, the industrialized world is run by complete narcissistic, self-serving morons.

I agree 100%. Looking forward to leaving until summer.

When I came back this year I became very disillusioned, more than usual.

Big change needed, no good choices out there.

I'm paying attention to this new Canadian Future Party.
I'm waiting to see if they will field candidates in the upcoming federal by-elections.
They could become the party for the disillusioned and the disenfranchised.
I'm tired of voting against someone.

Sure I'd consider that alternative. As it stands today the only candidate I could remotely support would be Jagmeet and I'm not an NDP supporter. The Lib's are (frank)ed. Pierre is a Trump wannabe. I'd be happy for another viable option in a minority government.

Trudeau and PeePee are both a disgrace in their own special ways and Canada is fucked if either gets a majority. Jagmeet means well but I don't trust socialists that come from wealthy families.

I know, you can't win here. I'd consider the Canadian Future Party, they have a long way to go. Goal moving forward is a minority for whoever. Sad state of affairs.
