This is why I shake my head in disbelief about the NHL trying to salvage this season/playoffs. It might go well with no problems, but if it doesn’t, it could be a disaster.

I get that it's not great, I really do. However, if eradication is the goal then why not come out and say it publicly. As far as I'm aware the goal has never been more than flattening the curve and lowering the case count.

I mean it seems as though eradication has been the goal in certain jurisdictions, but not others. That doesn't work when different jurisdictions are sharing essential workers and having others transport goods.

There can never be eradication without a vaccine, period. If that is the goal then everyone needs to isolate, including essential service.

If the goal is to flatten the curve people need to strictly adhere to the guidelines instituted by the health authorities. And all health authorities need to implement the same strict guidelines, BC can’t be implementing measures different from NB, stages of restrictions can be offset, but jurisdictions flouting the effects of the virus while others are In adherence with preventative measures cannot happen.

Otherwise this virus will continue on an unstoppable path.

Eradicating only comes with a vaccine. Flattening the curve and minimizing community transfer is all we are trying to do right now. It's working, somewhat, but we need to implement federal restrictions and not provincial imo. We also cant lift restrictions at the first site of things going well, as all it takes is one idiot to bring it all crashing down again. We need to be strict and be diligent until we all get this vaccine imo.

I get the jurisdiction thing. From the outset we had among the most stringent rules in the country despite the lowest of case counts. That's why the province was so effective. Again, population density matters......I mean I hope this is considered a foregone conclusion when speaking on the subject.

Now that our policies province (and nation) wide have opened, cases will continue to spread despite following guidelines.

I agree to a certain extent.

We should be able to lift restrictions if EVERYONE could follow health guidelines. Unfortunately, many aren't capable of doing so. Therefore, restrictions must remain tighter than otherwise necessary.

I don't dispute the severity of the virus nor it's contagion level, I just know there are ways around it.

And yes, eradication without vaccine is possible. However, nobody seems willing to go through that pain and effort. We'll see what happens if we're still without a vaccine a year + from now and we've lost millions of lives while only infecting 15% of the global population.
