We haven't discussed the Israel/Hamas war much, but I wanted to share this interview on PBS regarding the recent hospital blast. I thought the responses to questions were well thought out and unbiased (which is awfully difficult to find these days).

Thanks BM. Firstly, this entire situation makes me sick to my stomach, daily. I’m consuming way too much media on this and it’s not looking good for the foreseeable future.

It wouldn’t surprise me if either side was responsible. A terrorist organization who just committed these atrocities knowing full well what would happen to the people they (are supposed to) govern. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit of it was their rocket or even if they did it on purpose to rile up Arab support. I also wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Isreal targeted a location where they thought Hamas had hidden personnel and/or munitions regardless of civilians in the hospital.

If you’d like to get conspiratorial, we could talk about how (perhaps) Russia has convinced Iran that now would be a good time to make a move, drawing attention away from Ukraine with winter coming and the fact that the US is basically paralyzed without any real leadership in the house.

And to lighten things up, just heard a quote from Biden about how this attack was like 9-11 x 15

Hamas doesn't have ordinance that can do that kind of destruction. That was a bomb or missile... probably a JDAM(glide bomb) which Israel is using a lot of in Gaza atm. It's pretty consistent with the type of destruction in this incident. It definitely isn't a grad rocket like what Hamas is using. Israel is lying even if it were unintentional.

Israel has a long history of killing hundreds at a time. Massively disportionate retaliations on civilians... killing thousands at a time. Militants kill 3, Israel responds with hundreds.... been going on for decades.

I remember when Israel in the early 2000's assassinated a speaker... a non combatant who was a cripple in a wheelchair. They hit him with a cruise missile in a crowded market killing a bunch of other civilians at the same time. They shrugged it off. He wasn't even a legitimate target. They didn't like the content of his speeches....

Pretty much. My Instagram is just a vortex of propaganda and sadness. The level of hypocrisy and meme-ification is overwhelming. Being in Berlin makes it a bit more intense.

I'm so glad I don't go near any kind of social media. I've always thought they were platforms for narcissism and hate.

And what's going on there is heartbreaking.

Not disagreeing with you because I simply don't know much about what kind of weapon does what or who uses what but this exactly the opposite of what the dude in the video is saying. Too small a creator, too much fire and not enough actual damage etc.

Neither outcome makes me feel better about the situation and neither outcome would surprise me.

I have an instagram account but I only use it to post pictures of vacation (headed to Sicily in November) and to watch thirst trap videos...

But I get what you're saying. You have to deal with the double issue of immigration discussions. Pakistan about to kick 1.7 million immigrants from Afganistan etc out of the country because of a rise in bombings. The same Pakistan who harboured the very same terrorist regime who the people are fleeing from.

This world is fucked up. Climate change might not matter, we might kill everyone before it has a chance to get us.

Yeah, I ain't picking sides but I thought it was a rational response regarding the hospital hit and his comment about the civilian losses. He was analytical and compassionate. Both of those approaches are difficult to find in this politically charged atmosphere. Booner's post is a perfect example.

The shit coming out of the mouths of politicians right now is disgusting.

They need to set up huge drive in movie screens all over Isreal and Palestine right now and simulcast You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.

Glide bombs come in more like missiles on an angle. Don't crater like a standard bomb drop. A rocket isnt going to destroy a building like that and kill hundreds.

We are not going to get unbiased honest reporting on this. Never have, never will.

There ain't a chance in hell I'm going to side with the far right zionist government there... the last apartheid on the planet. That's for sure. I have sympathy for the civilians dying but lets not forget why a couple of million are cramped up in tiny Gaza... the worlds largest refugee camp. The never ending expansion.

I see the USA vetoed aid for Gaza at the UN as usual. You will always find American foreign policy at the root of these conflicts.

Oh nice! I'll be in Turin in a couple weeks... not as nice as Sicily but I've never been, so happy enough to gorge on pasta, pizza, and nergonis for a couple of days

And yes, half of IG is just thrist traps, and I'm here for it

Would you consider reserves as apartheid-lite? Some of the reserves in isolated areas of our country might as well be walled off as it’s almost impossible to reach those places.

Not really but...

The Zionist process of claiming all the land they feel they are entitled to runs a very close parallel to what happened here in North America. Mass uprooting of people into reservations. Destroying their ability to farm. Cutting them off from water supplies. Stealing land from beneath their feet and importing foreigners onto that land. Any uprising is dealt with as terrorism. Any push back results in 1000's of it's inhabitants being deleted and more land taken. The media in full spin flipping the narrative. It's actually scary when you look at the headlines in the 1800's about First Nations and any kind of push back. "Savages!", "They hate us because we are civilized", "Unprovoked!", "They don't want peace", "They want to take our land"... on and on. Doesn't sound any different. Narratives about the Palestinians not wanting peace, hating us for our freedom, Israel's right to exist... People today eat up those narratives just like they did 2 centuries ago in North America. What we are witnessing is a slow genocide.

More and more I'm hearing Palestinians being referred to as indigenous.

The similarities are striking.

Not from me. They are not indigenous to Palestine but neither were the Jews.... and especially not European Jews who overwhelmingly are of European origin.

Even by jewish scripture records, they took the land from the canaanites by way of genocide.

And how long did you spend going down that rabbit hole?

To keep it hockey related, Gretzky's daughter definitely posts some thirst-trap level stuff...
