His Salary would be easily defendable and his presence on the PP would be powerful even though we know those pts don't really count.

He was "done" coaching hockey because he got (frank)ed over, hard, with no lube. Especially when you had more success than anyone since they went to the Cup all the way through their playoff run a couple years ago, sure it's relative, but 3rd in the division beats last. It's tough to blame a guy for taking a few years off after that.

He is 35 with a professional hockey player with a penchant for self-indulgence. I don't judge, but what I have witnessed following his career on and off the ice a bit, he became more dedicated and grew from those Stressful off ice issues, serious off ice issues , if ya know what i mean, needless to say, Yes I would offer him that deal if it was what I needed to get him to waive his no trade clause, otherwise we just trade for him and decide after evaluating him on our team this season.

I think Vanek would be fine for this team in the right situation


that would be a solid top 6 with speed, and an open slot for LW on the 3rd line with a speedy vet center and a young rookie/second year guy with wheels and potential
