Jim Schoenfeld has stepped down from his role as the New York Rangers assistant GM and senior VP.
Schoenfeld was part of the Rangers' organization for 17 seasons. He started as an assistant coach with the Rangers and eventually moved into the front office. "In nearly two decades with the Rangers, Jim made an impact in nearly every level of the organization," said Rangers president Glen Sather. "His tireless efforts and contributions were vital to the extended run of success we experienced during his tenure in New York." - SABRES 89
He’s definitely taking time off to put together his next masterpiece of an album. His music fans demanded it, and he will deliver.

Schonny would be a perfect pegula hire.
Wonder if there is any interest? Mutual interest? - Boss34
He’d make a fantastic in-house organist. |

There's a fundamental difference between getting rid of someone and giving to get.
It's not CM for two 2nds and a 3rd
Most of them are CM for someone better than CM - Sabresfan-365
I’m not moving CM for William Karlsson. William Karlsson is a decent player but CM’s ceiling is not worth that. If we are moving CM and a first I’d want Seguin not a guy who was exposed in a expansion draft and found lightning in a bottle. |

I think will karlson is a 2 year wonder now?
Also , has only missed 2 games in the past 4 seasons.
He really did have some low point years though - Boss34
Ummm, no. He scored 19 less goals this year; which is 1 more than his career total before last year. |

Same board who I’ll be laughing at when he’s a 40-45 point centre in a year and a half and still making $7.5M a year. - Pegullaville
How a year & a half though?
Do u mean next year he’ll be at that level,
or the year after? |

you don't think he would roll 2 lines, like the pens did with crosby and malkin?
I certainly think they would and your closer to 80 points a year if olofsson and/or nylander pan out and casey is moved to the wing
casey-eichel-nylander
olofsson-duchene-reinhart
or
skinner-eichel-reinhart
sheary/olofsson-casey-okposo/nylander - homiedclown
Look at his stats on Colorado
Didn’t they roll 2 lines there?
That’s why they put ROR to LW
IF... and it’s a BIG IF imo... Duchene is an 80point guy here
***BTW, he’s NEVER BEEN AN 80 POINT GUY
(So i think you’re reaching to begin with)
But even if he is an 80point guy...
I still don’t think it makes sense to pay him near 10mil
That’s just way too much to risk it
Especially since i still have faith that Mitts to become at least a really good 2C
Also, if Nylander & Olofsson don’t work out...
then in the scenario u built, we’d be quite hamstrung to add more talent
***i just don’t think we should pay someone that type $$$ unless they’re “elite”
And Duchene just isn’t elite, and really isn’t close |

give up casey and our second first rounder
that's about what the price will be
or samuelson, nylander and a second rd pick - homiedclown
I’m comfortable with option 2
But what I’d do is take some additional salary from them, bc they are in really rough Cap shape, and that should get the price down to say 1 of those prospects & a 2nd
And that’s really doable

VGK could just move 2 of Eakin, Holden, Karlsson (or maybe all 3) and it'd solve their problems. - Sabresfan-365
Yep... that’s my point
I’ll take Karlsson + the other salary to get the price down for us |

Skinner and Duchene are in the same tiers at their respective positions. Duchene is a top 30 Centre in the league, Skinner is a top 30 winger. Centre is more important then the wing. Both players are going to sign deals that will make us cringe. That’s why we need to sign cheaper vet options and pray to god we hit on the draft picks. Our fate rides in the hands of Dahlin, Mitts, Nylander/Tage, Olofsson, and 7th OA. |

Karlsson would have been 3rd on the Sabres in goals and 4th in points by large margins.
He has had a really great season and a pretty good season.
So ummmmmm , yes |

Mitts has played one full season, Barzal was still in the WHL at this point of his career. Nylander I believe should be a part of a trade package but if he’s still here needs to make an impact. Tage is a developmental project but if he commits to the weight room I think he has untapped potential that can see him becoming an Alex Tuch type player but it all depends if we are patient enough with him and give him the time to get there. |

He could be huge but not sure our fate is in him. Solid play in front of the goalie can make up for average goaltending. |
