It was a hand pass.
And whether or not it touched the St. Louis player afterwards is irrelevant. The rule is based on who gets possession next I believe.
The officials whiffed on this one. - buffalofan19
Didn't see the play live, and when I saw the replay the first time I would have agreed with this assessment completely.
But looking at the gif, and reading the rule, I now disagree. It was NOT a hand pass. Meier is trying to knock the puck down - he's not trying to shovel it to a teammate. And in light of the rule Homie posted, it's not an illegal play.
The refs got it right. (Actually I think they missed the issue altogether but it wasn't a bad result.)

Someone put out the bat signal for Stripes to settle this
if you could sign skinner or duchene, I would sign duchene - homiedclown
Have you given up on Mitts? I think the value of a 35-40 goal guy with Eichel outweighs Duchene simply because we have a guy with 60p potential in Mittelstadt imo

There was a motion to hit the puck with his hand and after the hand movement the puck ended up on his teammates stick. I happen to believe it hit his hand along with a distinct motion to effect the pucks path - it is a hand pass. Other wise, I believe there is a magic puck theory that we will need to analyze, ad nauseum.
I also think the Blues coach and players addressed the issue well.
What happens when they wait until July 1st, and while you've put all your eggs in Duchene's basket - and he doesn't sign - Skinner signs elsewhere? - Powerslave
if skinner does not sign by the end of the weekend, does he really want to be here?

Neither?
I do find it funny that recent posts suggested trading Casey, a 20 yo 8th OA because he disappointed in the NHL last year who was clearly working on his D-play and 200 foot game...while doing so with glorified AHLers as linemates ...
Meanwhile,
Another recent 8 OA, who is 21 and yet to impress in the AHL, and is working on his compete level is declared too young to give up on
