I've seen some big names in the NHLon the buyout lists that TSN and Sportsnet posted, Okposo is not one of the names on any list. |

and if a guy does not want to sign a 8 year, 9 mil per year deal, he does not want to be here
no other team is going to offer him 72 mil
he signs a deal now, it's for the right reasons, once we get to the end of june, ranger bound - homiedclown
Well then,
We'll just have to send our tough guy, allstar defenseman after him for those Ranger games, eh?
No, not Nelson....Wristo |

What contract?
Do we know that he has been given one to sign yet? |

Your guess is as good as mine.
I would wait until the tampering period and see what is out there.
How would he know what other teams are offering him without waiting?
Why would he want to stay here again? The extra $ for the extra year? |

I don't think skinner is signing here, if he wanted to be a sabre long term he would have already made it happen
I am ready and prepared to move on
and really good teams have 2 really good centers
pens built down the middle and I think grabbing duchene is perfect to build down the middle
I think casey will do just fine as a winger on the top line and replace the points skinner put up last season, not goals but points
I also feel if they really want to get strong down the middle, sign hayes for the 3rd line and flank him with e-rod and a vet not named okposo, pommer or sobotka - homiedclown
I'm all for building down the middle.

When did that offer get made? What we know:
Skinner scored the most goals of his career here;
We were terrible again;
Skinner is an UFA.
Other than that, nothing. |

The worst part is, if Skinner walks and we just promote from the minors, we'll have the best chance at the lottery... |

Not directed solely at you...
Let me get this straight,
-the Sabres scored 50 goals less than the average of the 6, 7, 8 seeds in the East
- Skinner scored 40 of them
- the postulated gap of $1m is deemed to be way too much to even consider
- 20 G Scorers are going for $4-$6m, to replace, not increase goal scoring will cost more, not less
- LW depth is Oloffson and his 8 games in NHL (I like what I saw too), Sheary who can't skate 10' without falling down...and, and ???
I fail to see the logic in letting him walk, like 40G scorer's are just lining up to play here (coaches too obviously) - IonSabres
Here's my biggest problem. He put up a career year on an expiring contract. Sound familiar?
9M/8yrs is tough to pay for a guy who you are pretty much paying to simply score goals and paying a premium on the 40 he potted, which is great, but he also had the Eichel effect.
If that's what you want? Fine. However, you are putting money in now that can be spent in other ways.
I promise I'm not a Skinner hater but 9M is a tough pill to swallow, which is why I don't think either side has budged and also why I see Skinner in a Rags uni next year.

You can't sign a bad value deal simply because of lack of internal depth. That is how you end up in DET style cap hell where you still suck. |

tougher pill is holding that 72 mil contract out there, and he has yet to sign it
if I am offering up 72 mil, I want him to want to be here
I don't think he does |

His 5v5 production coupled with his elite scoring of game winning goals makes those 40 G a premium to try to replace.
Stafford would have many hatricks in 9-0 blowout games.

Have you given up on Mitts? I think the value of a 35-40 goal guy with Eichel outweighs Duchene simply because we have a guy with 60p potential in Mittelstadt imo
Olofsson is our only hope for a high-end lw - jcragcrumple
Or you can have 3 high end Centres that improve the play of the wingers on the team and have 3 solid lines. |
