Jesus - CanuckDon
Did he say he would seriously consider a D man, who they rate in the middle of round 1, at 10?

I think that was a Dman rated there, not by his rating. I took it as they will take their BPA and not other peoples BPA. |

Who would you seriously trust ? The entire Canucks drafting team or the draft experts of Hockey Buzz.
Just because someone here says Krebbs or Newhook is better than Soderstrom Broberg York or Seider , it doesn't actually mean they really are.
I have viewed some of these forwards and I personally think they are really over rated. There is no way in hell Krebbs or Newhook or Cozens is helping the Canucks in the next three years. Neither is Soderstrom or any of the listed D men .
If you are really drafting the BPA it will be the second ranked Dman and not the 9 th forward.
That is my take lik it or not.

It's a mixed message. First he says they have their list, and they will draft according to their list, not what the "experts in the media" think. I totally agree with this. BUT, next Kuze added this quote:
"Defenceman are deep this year, maybe not at the high end, but once you get halfway through the first round, there’s a lot that we like,” added Benning. “If that guy is there at No. 10 we’ll be taking him. It’s been proved by teams still playing that good teams are built through goal, defence and centre. That’s the basic principle.”
To me, this sounds like he is saying that a player who they (the Canucks) rank 16-31, if still there at 10, they will take him because "look at the playoffs". |

JB should have prearranged possible offers ready when our pick in case they think it’s splitting hairs. |

Jim is not the swiftest on his feet .
My choice I see one Canadian( Byram) I would draft top 10 . Of Course Hughes and Kakko at the top . Then I see 5 to 6 US forwards and then I look at the D which is 10.
I would pay more attention to the D is deep comment instead of Jim trying to calculate math. You can see the smoke burning.

That does leave 3-4 D to pick from & Podkolzin, Cozens, Newhook, Krebs. Dach will be gone imo. Makes 16oa/32oa more appealing. Go BPA & let other GM’s do strange things before us. |

Podkolzen is signed for two more years in Russia.
Like Benning said he hears the outside noise of who should be taken where and they have their own list so there is a very good chance they have no interest in the players you named.

It was just the conflicting message of the quotes. Honestly, I don't care who they pick this year. I trust that Bracket and his team have done their homework and they will take the player they think can have the most impact in a few years. If they take the guy who is most ready to play in the NHL because he's big or something stupid like that, then I might be annoyed.
I hope they take Poldkolzin because hockeybuzz would explode... |

The unnamed D possibles are Soderstrom York Broberg Seider. At 16 good odds one falls to us & you get your D. Better value & we gain a top 2nd pick sweetener. Good F depth in the 2nd for us. |

Essentially, this is all fantasy league talk anyway... "If I was GM I'd pick so and so in the first round". Like you said, JB and team have a list and they will probably stick to it if nothing better falls to them.
Nobody can predict their draft list so someone should just create a forum, everyone post their own draft list, and get it over with. See who's the most accurate come draft time.
We can also see who's full of poop... and then tear them apart like wild dogs. |

Only problem about debate in Carol's blogs is that they come and go pretty much daily. Opinions and strong statements get lost in history. With a forum there is a running record right up to the draft of who said what. And then you can analyse your preconceptions based on fact when the draft happens.
