If Hutton and Stecher were your third pairing -> meaning there were 4 better guys playing ahead of them, you would probably have a decent D corps. When Hutton and Stecher are playing 27-30 minutes because both Tanev and Edler are hurt, and the coach doesn’t trust Gudbranson, Pouiliot, Biega or Del Zotto enough to play against the other teams best players, that’s when you run into trouble.

I don’t think you need to worry. At least, you don’t need to worry about the big name, high price FA’s. You absolutely should worry about Benning signing a guy who had a good playoff run to a big ticket.

Trouba made $5.5m last year & has arb rights.

We could go as high as 5/8.4m. Longer term is total contract divided by 5yrs so could offer less to keep compensation at a 1st/3rd.
