Should you be able to chuck a golf ball down the fairway instead of using a club?
Should baseball players be able to catch and throw a pitch into play instead of using a bat?
Are you actually retarded? - Feds91Stammer

True hockey fans would never complain that there is not enough scoring. Hockey is not about offense. Hockey is balanced. Go watch the NBA if you need a sport with lots of scoring. |

Not sold on the hand pass being allowed. I do think there needs to be a ref off the ice or a supervisor to help make and correct calls.

In terms of style of game, soccer is likely one of if not the closest to hockey... I wonder how footie fans would react if you allowed hand passes to increase scoring |

A true hockey fan can also tell if a low scoring game is exciting or not. To many games now are boring to watch because teams are so good defensively. If there could be a way to Introduce slight changes, if even all it does is add to the goal total slightly. It makes it seem way more exciting to the casual fan.

Oddly the increased 3 point shooting that has lead to more scoring in the NBA has made it a less entertaining product |

I definitely do not care about purists. They are the worst whatever the topic, sport or activity. I don't think integrity and being a purist have anything to do with each other, only purists think that. - James_Tanner
This is the absolute heights of stupidity.

1. I 100% agree with your take on this. I've never understood why you can "pass" off every other body part, but as soon as it touches your hand it's a no go. I understand that you can't close your hand on the puck and throw it, but batting it out of the air to a team mate, to me that's no different than kicking it to a teammate. if it goes directly in the net off your hand, fine....and if you close your hand on it, still a penalty....but to me, there should be nothing wrong with batting or swiping a puck with your hand to your teammate
2. I feel the need to point out your hypocrisy......you cried like a little girl, in multiple blogs, about the refs "screwing the leafs" against Boston, but when it happens to another team "they're only human". come on man |

Low scoring games are some of the best in my memory. Been to thousands of games, exciting hockey has nothing to do with goals or the lack of. |

I think players would find a way to make a mockery of the hand pass. I can picture guys like Crosby flipping it up to himself and using a volleyball pass to a guy for an open net goal.
That’s what happened in the defensive zone. Guy breaks his stick so he hand passes to a teammate to get a whistle, hence the rule. |

I agree with you. The Canada and USA game in the Olympics in 2014 was probably the best game I ever watched. I'm just not opposed to creating a little more scoring for the reason of getting more fans.
Look what Carolina did. Stupid little acts after they win on home ice and more fans show up. |

yeah but that has nothing to do with radically changing the rules. |

It's pretty weird that people think this is a bad idea, it's literally the greatest idea of all time. At the very least, it's worth asking why we don't allow hand passes, and I can't think of a single reason. - James_Tanner
Players aren’t taught to defend hand passes, they’re taught to defend stick passes
Grandfather it in like they did with helmets, oh wait can’t do that either |

I dont like his suggestion on the hand pass. I'm just saying if there Is a way to have a game go from 2-1 to 3-2 . And so on I would be fine with it. I dont want any radical changes either. |

this...100% this. hand pass should be allowed everywhere, as long as you don't close your hand on it, or put it directly in the net. |
