And there should be no penalty shooting the puck over the glass. How one rule favors the defensive team and another goes against baffles me. Allow hand passes anywhere and call delay of game when anyone shoots the puck over the glass no matter where they are on the ice.

Also that you can go over the blue line in the defensive zone no matter if there is a player there or not seriously this idea that you can pass with you hand in the offensive zone is asinine

In terms of style of game, soccer is likely one of if not the closest to hockey... I wonder how footie fans would react if you allowed hand passes to increase scoring

Should be no hand passes period, not in any zone. Why is it ok in the Dzone when they want scoring to go up? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I can enjoy a game where a goalie stands on his head.
I can enjoy a game where both teams playing a physical, well-played defensive game.
I can't enjoy a game where it's a 12-10 game with little attention paid to defense or goaltending.

To me, the goals themselves aren't the exciting thing, it's the series of plays that lead to the goals (i.e. defensive play, passing, skating) that are exciting, the goals are simply the finish. I don't see a need to "increase scoring" since a goal is one small (albeit important) part of the game.

Just substitute the Maple Leafs for the Blues last night and this story reads: No Freaking Hand Passes allowed in NHL!

Couple reasons. Casual fan I.e my son hes just 4 and really has no interest in hockey. But when there are lots of goals or fights he gets excited and wants to watch.

Hand passes are allowed in the D-zone as before players would do it to get a whistle. started to allow them so there were less stops in plays. This was discussed on Hockey Central at Noon.

Anyone that says it's not the way the game should be played because it's not "pure" is just wrong. The NHL has changed drastically in the 100+ years of existence:

Other rules not listed there, forward passes are legal, they changed the number of players on the ice, etc.

I am fine either way if it is allowed, just no more reviews of these plays, the Pandora's box was opened with Offsides and we are now looking if someone is a hair offsides and a goal can get taken away 45 seconds after the fact. It's dumb.
