The Leafs played like poop from January on and their play against Boston was disappointing at times.

That being said, nobody gave Boston more trouble than the Leafs. That series was the ECF played a month early.

Just goes to show what some improvement on the blueline could do.

The leafs blew it again. Had Boston down then fell apart again.
But there's always next year, who knows what it holds

Really, people are doing that?

How were people surprised by an upsetting twist, what show were they watching this whole time?

Or why do people expect long tv shows to end well? Lol

Next year, the Leafs should be weaker. Their already poop blueline is going to get worse. Maybe their offensive players score even more and make up the difference. But in the playoffs, that could backfire again.

I'd still be worried about Tampa Bay too. They're going to be scary next year and will be better prepared for the playoffs. Kinda like how Washington did it.

The shows not over, it could still end well. The last episode was great.

No idea what next year holds yet. I could see s step back or forward depending on the off season

The playoffs are so crazy now, anything could happen. I like what Shanny said about maybe it's good seeing Boston advance because it pours salt in the wound, builds up scar tissue.

What the Leafs need, nobody will give up.

And they can't sign a UFA because the cap space isn't there.

It's going to take a major mistake by another team to fix the Leafs for next season.

Not really. The 1st round was wild but after that it settled down.

The final four only has one team that doesn't really belong there and they're about to get swept.

And they still played a good playoff style, their goalie just got hurt and they ran into a superior team.

(frank) that.

Leafs need to learn how to kill. They need to figure out how to turn it on at the right times.

I think the have to name a captain. All the good teams have a great leadership core and I think the Leafs have that. But now it’s time to name a captain and really put an identity to this team.

That first round was very impactful. For the Leafs it was close. Last year an expansion team made the final. This year the stacked first seed didn't win a game. Just have to have a lot of kicks at the can, which the Leafs are in a good spot to have.

Vegas was stacked with a broken expansion draft.

And Tampa Bay lost in a manner that has never happened before.

I wouldn't call those frequent occurrences.

If the Leafs want to make a deep playoff run, it's still the usual suspects they have to beat; Boston and Tampa Bay. Both opponents are very strong and the Leafs defense isn't getting stronger next year.

But definitely good for the Leafs to have many kicks at the can in the future, they just have to make the proper adjustments year to year to improve on their performances.

That's how you learn, getting beat.

The captain thing is a formality for the public and press. The teams that miss the playoffs and suck have captains too.

It hurts to find out this way but thanks for breaking it to me.

Nylander dying would totally hurt his trade value, but at least he could go on LTIR.

I guess I’m a bit of a traditionalist, and prefer to have a captain. I think it is much more than formality and press, I think teammates listen, and I think players care, on some level.
