Not at all, just saying that's a 6oa pick. No guarantees we get anything better. Juolevi at 5th overall has yet to play an NHL game.
The kid just turned 23, it's not like he's 26.
Again, do you see anything surefire that's guaranteed to be there at 10oa ? If not, then why not consider it?
It's one pick, maybe a larger deal gets you a later one back. - golfingsince
I hear you I just think Princess Willie is bad value at his contract |

I agree with you in principle but I don't like Nylander and wouldn't want him on the team. I'm sure he would put up points and make other guys better offensively but I'm not sure he puts this team over the top and that would be the only reason I would be moving a high first at this stage of the rebuild.

One could make the argument that the Canucks won when you factor in their contracts. It’s hard to argue. I’m a Jake hater FYI - CanuckDon
I know you're not a fan, but no I don't think there is an argument factoring in contracts unless you look at this one season in a vacuum. |

Discard last season for a minute.
He would have been the leading scorer on the Canucks the season before that.......as well as the year prior.
This is what buying low is all about Don. Nylander will not have a lower value during the life of this contract unless he gets seriously injured. |

I hear what you're saying, but i've always been a Nylander fan.
I also thing a Nylander acquisition has you looking to add a key UFA piece. |

What would Nylander have to do to be good value for his contract?
Horvat's great value, I'm still laughing about the idiots who thought it was a bad contract. |

Yeah man, that's opinion. That's fine, like I said I don't have a draft board. But if I did he'd be in there at some point. |

If the Leafs are dumb enough to trade us Nylander, because of their cap situation, it’s an absolute no-brainer to acquire him with middling players, however, under no circumstances do you deal the 10th overall pick. The team isn’t good enough yet to be dealing premium picks like that.
Not very many 60+ point wingers available out there and he’s young, he’s bigger than most think and he’s really talented which would both compliment and keep Pettersson happy. |

We just having differing opinions of Nylanders worth. You may be correct that it’s an opportunity to buy low. Or a team may overpay for a player that won’t live up to his contract. We shall see |

I don't think middling players gets it done.
I don't understand this line of thinking. Although i'm a huge supporter of retaining draft picks, I think they should always be in play.
It happens nearly every year that draft picks are overvalued near the draft and undervalued near the deadline.

It’s not like you would be dealing the pick for a 29 year old
Nylander is young and could grow with the young core
Maybe a bigger trade is there as well

I see your point, however, I would first try to trade for him without the 10th overall pick. I just don’t feel like the addition of Nylander would put the team enough ahead to justify it.
Stay with building through the draft. |

If you're TO you'd not be going for the 10oa for him you're looking at top 4oa

Not necessarily because they have cap issues to fit Marner in. They’ll try for the best deal they can, but I doubt anyone would offer them a top four pick for him. |

For sure I don't come out and offer that pick, but I think it should be in play.
This draft sure looks like a crapshoot as you drop down.
What about something like Tanev, 10th pick for Nylander, Zaitsev (if they want to include him) and their 2nd.
That's a 40ish pick slide to take a gamble on Zaitsev as well.
Just spitballing. |

Depends on the team, their needs and cap situation. Not suggesting any team but the avs might want a player to put them over the edge....now. don't know their cap angle tho |
