In other news, I've warmed up to Krueger. Hope you all have too. Hate to say it, he just seems more solid and significantly smarter than Phil.
Will it work?
Who knows.
Wouldn't have minded the Swede, but this I can live with. |

It isn't a cheap shot to call her a waitress when she was one.
If she wasn't a waitress, was a lawyer, and people were telling her to go get a cup of coffee, that's sexist.
I didn't see any "ruv Terry" stuff, that would be racist.
I guess my issue is that people want to call insults, racist or sexist, when in actuality they are not. Simply valid critiques of a woman. - RhinoFan
There was that, and more.
The only reason the waitress thing caught on imo is because it's the perfect occupation with which to belittle a woman. It feels directly into the "get in the kitchen" narrative.
But if she were born rich, people would just call her a princess or a spoiled brat instead of a waitress.
And listen, I don't want to fight a culture war on HB, but this is punching below the belt, and utterly unnecessary. It's provocative for the sake of being provocative. So when people respond after being provoked, the people being provocative can yell "snowflake." |

I think there's plenty of fair criticism to be dished out toward KP and TP, but that message can be articulated without resorting to cheap shots, stereotypes, racism and sexism - jcragcrumple

If nothing is done by the middle of June he is going to test free agency
I believe Botterill said Kruger will start meeting players soon and hopefully Skinner is one of them.
I will say Kruger sounds like a players coach from everything I have read. It could work out here with Skinner.
If playing close to home matters this is the only place he could play because Toronto clearly doesn't have the cap to bring him on. - Stripes77
I think he might already be gone. Sort of surprised he wasnt resigned already.
Imo the whole coach thing is BS. It's not like Ralph took an 8 year contract. Coaches change. |

I've literally never read the Huffington Post. I just think this crosses a boundary into personal attacks that doesn't need to be crossed. I said the same thing when people were going after ROR for everything from his religion to his marital status. It's unnecessary |

It's possible but both Botterill and Skinner's agent I believe said they wanted to wait until a coach was hired.
I think there could be some validity to that.
But you could also be 100% right |

The job of an agent is to predict what the fair value of the client's services is, and to negotiate a contract that is as close as possible to that value. (Yes, sometimes the client is willing to give concessions from fair value.)
The job of defining/predicting fair value will be much easier is Skinner's agent actually goes to market for that information instead of just guessing. I think it would almost be malpractice NOT to collect that information.
So it doesn't surprise me at all that Skinner would wait to sign his contract until the non-interference period is lifted just before July 1, and his agent has a chance to determine more fully what the market will offer. |

Dude, she was a waitress, and now she is the President of PSE. Whether or not she's a female is irrelevant to the jab.
FFS... calling a former waitress a waitress is... sexist because she's a woman(seriously?); therefore, calling a waiter a waiter is sexist because he's a man....?
Why don't we just call it racist too, since that's in the same realm of bullpoop these days.
Fcking people around here. - BareMetal
That’s great then stop calling her a waitress then ( when she’s not)

Not excusing any "ruv Terry" comments, that's just childish.
At the same point, in this context, I see absolutely nothing wrong with telling her she was better off as a waitress or referencing that as her previous job. Is it mean? Yes. Can you make it sexist with further comments about it? Yes. Is that comment in and of itself sexist? No.
It's factual. It insults her intelligence. It is called sexist because waitressing is historically an occupation controlled by women. Are there waiters? Yes. If Brandon Beane was a waiter before GM, and he sucked, we would make fun of him for that.
We need to draw the line between what is said and what you think a comment feels like.
If I may, please be offended by "ruv Terry" not by someone factually calling up her past work history and using that to justify saying she isn't fit for office. |

Dude, she was a waitress. She isn't qualified to be in the position she is in. That's not an opinion or overtly sexist somehow, that is fact. - RhinoFan
What a dumb (frank)ing statement. They are beneath you? They can never advance in life?
I hope every waitress that serves you food spits in it. |

True. We should also agree that just because you are offended doesn't mean something is truly offensive either.
Like calling a waitress, a waitress. That's a fact. It is other comments that take it further where you are correct. Not before. - RhinoFan
I agree with you.
I'm not offended by any of this to be honest. But,
Gerbe or anyone else shouldn't have to come in here to talk about hockey and read a bunch of bs. It's a hockey chat website.

I appreciate your thoughtful response. I disagree with some elements of it, but I have no intention of furthering this discussion and the unwanted reputation I have gained of being the resident HB SJW. That said, if I see something I think is bullpoop, I will call someone on it |

No the problem with the world is small group of people get offended by something and then accommodations have to be made for them.
The amount of people on the far right and the far left is relatively small.
But it's those people that get the most notoriety and discussion because its a shock value world.
There is far more middle ground between 85% of the world (and the political parties) at least in North America anyway. - Stripes77
Right, it cant be both.
That's another problem with society, people aren't open to being wrong or both people being right.

Its everything but: ror right? - Boss34
I mean when they were down in the Stars series they did move ROR off the top line and moved Schenn back to the middle between Schwartz and Tarasenko. Amazingly enough they started to score 5v5 again as well. They have been winning despite ROR not really because of him. He carried the Blues on his back until February but has actually been a symbol of criticism for the Blues these playoffs. |

So marrying a rich businessman who also has no idea what he’s doing qualifies her to run a sports franchise ? It’s not like she was a waitress and got a Bachelor of Commerce degree, an MBA, then impressed the ranks and established herself as a business tycoon. I’m sure she is a fantastic person, but she shouldn’t be anywhere close to team president of the Buffalo Sabres. |

You, nor anyone else, has any idea of her intelligence level, commitment, work ethic, etc., yet she's the easy target. What a joke.
She also went to college, and worked at East Resources (a pretty successful business, if you ask me) from 1991 to 2010.
Don't act like the woman is a (frank)ing idiot.
If the hockey team was winning, NONE OF THIS IS EVEN TALKED ABOUT. |

Did I say any of that?
No, I didn't.
I've been a janitor, a roofer and a bouncer in my life. No issue with anyone working, period.
However, I don't think Kim has done a good job, same as I don't think I would do a good job. If someone was to critic my employment by citing my previous work history I wouldn't be too upset, seems to be valid criticism to me.
Sorry you assumed so much in what I said. |
