I don't think Miller signed for 3 years at 3.85 is enough of an upgrade even over Schenn at say a million AAV, unless VGK makes it worth while to take that contract. Other then Virtanen Van doesn't have any small contracts that are outplaying their contract values.

It's kind of like the Tanev situation. His injury situation, and poor performance have made it so that his value to the team as a player exceeds his value to the team as a trade chip.

Really depends on how Gaudette performs at camp and or in Utica. If he outplays Sutter they’ll make room for him. I like Sutter as a third line center, but he’s not been available much last year. Change is good, in this case.

Those first 3 points all lead to me thinking he's a player they wouldn't be making a healthy scratch. I guess when you look at it that way though.
