Trade for a D, hopefully OJ recovers well and earns a spot. Start there. - VanHockeyGuy
I think OJ will be fine just delayed.
Trading for D sounds easy but it isn’t. |

Or
MG trading all picks away & drafting like a drunk? - Nighthawk
In his five years Gillis made 37 draft picks, including six 1st rounders, late ones but first rounders, except Horvat.
Benning’s made 34 picks in his five years, including six 1st rounders.
It’s quite obvious Gillis sucked at drafting but he also didn’t have the luxury of drafting at the top of the first round like Benning has. |

Just out of curiosity who will the Leafs lose because of cap issues? Because all year I've heard all RFAs are getting offersheets and leaving. That stuff is fantasy world.
Most teams face cap issues this summer that are considered "good'. - RogerRoeper
Anyone outside of the core is a possibility, maybe Kadri and definitely Gardiner. That’s some good players that will have to be replaced with kids on league minimum contracts. I don’t know anything about your farm system, other than they are still playing, but you will need to get lucky with a couple of them. |

They actually replaced Gardinmer already. Muzzin has the same cap hit.

He created that luxury. When we get a 1oa or 2oa or even a 3oa by lotto luck then lets see. Top 3 isn’t top 5 or worse.

Nylander will be PPG next season imo and I will laugh at this idea 6.9 million per is millions overpaid. |

I just noticed your pm. The mobile version of HB doesn’t display alerts. I’ve hit you back. - CubanBuffet
Lol, I can’t even figure out how to get to messages on the mobile version. We’ve done two features over here on the Island, have another coming up this winter. Still have a few bottles of ‘11 Franc and Merlot and 13 Merlot in my cellar. We have a bit of Legacy left at the restaurant too. Had one a month back, just starting to come around. |

Sandin is about it with another D like Rosen. Liljigren isn’t progressing as well as they like. Bracco is small. No 1st this year. |

They also have an excellent young core. And Liljegren looks fine. Not like a star, but he can be on the Leafs next year.

No, you’re wrong, which is the case 90% of the time. Which is why I’ll cut this short here.
Gillis wanted to rebuild in 2013 but Aquilini wouldn’t let him. The fall from grace lands squarely at the feet of ownership. |

Too few eat up tons of cap space. Expect a lot of cheap contracts filling the holes. |

They've already been working on it. They have some nice young supporting guys making under a million next year. |

How could MG rebuild when he screwed us with all his NMC’s & NTC’s. That is as silly as it gets. |

Canucks want to give Jay Beagle 3 million per.
It's interesting that it is spun Tavares 11 million is an issue, when it fact the issue is Marleau and Zaitsev making 10.8 million next season (Thanks Lou)
Pay the stars. DO NOT overpay bottom 6 guys. |

Another Norris worthy game so far today ![;)](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif) - neem55
It’s painful to talk to meatheads like you about why all successful teams have a pure offensive defensemen. I guess the Oilers dynasty probably would have been better off without HHOF’er Paul Coffey and they just went with seven Randy Gregg’s or Lee Fogolins?
We are one of the worse teams in the league at creating offence from the defence but we’re worried that our offensive defenseman can’t defend well enough. (frank) me. |

Beagle doesn't hurt us at this point in time.
JT at 11m hurts the Leafs cap & yes he is a star but changes nada. Kadri is a pretty good well paid bottom 6.

Edler did fine.
Stetcher doesn’t score enough for a small D.
Hughes is no problem.
Hutton is not top 4 & barely bottom pairing.
Tanev is an injury prone warrior.
Schenn is a cheap grit vet.
The rest are hard to say yet. |

Of course but not to that degree. You need a very deep pipeline to pull it off & that’s not the case. The cap crunch will determine how well Dubas navigates through it setting the roster. TBL are a good example of a pipeline. |
