I don't really want to overpay for Hayes either. But if they sign a 2C out of free agency and he's making more than Couturier, I don't think that's a big deal. He's on a phenomenal deal right now. - Ftown19125
We should be lucky as Cots plays like a 7.5 million man right now and they should focus on a Top pair D-man with right shot and clarify the backup goalie quickly |

Trouba. Like everyone else, I don't want to "overpay" for him. I mean that both in terms of the assets given up to trade for him & the contract that he would then need to be signed to. But if he is truly available, then I hope all reasonable options are being explored to get him. I think he's exactly what is needed to lock up the D for the next few years, and he's number 1 on my off season wish list by far. |

My 2 cents re finding a center:
Duchene isn’t going to be worth the deal he’s about to get and nor is Hayes. If Jeff Carter only had a year or 2 left on his deal, he’d be a guy I’d target but oh well. Finding a legit 2C with only a year or 2 left on his deal will not be easy. I know it’s a risk, but perhaps the best move is to just find a good 3C in a trade and live or die with Patrick as the 2C. Heck, by 20-21, Frost could pass Patrick on the depth chart anyway.
This would also give the Flyers ample cap room to both sign their own players and make a play for Trouba. Any deal for Trouba is going to cost you the 11th overall pick but you have to give up to get.
One other option would be dealing for Trouba with that 11OA and maybe Hagg and a prospect and then swapping Ghost straight up for a 2C.
Should start getting interesting around here on draft day. |

Winnipeg is prob not so interested in picks. I would think they’d want immediate roster help for trouba. They want to win now
Would anyone entertain a straight up provorov for trouba swap if that’s what it takes?
That would allow the flyers to retain ghost on a team friendly deal, balance out the D pairs b/w left and righties, and leave plenty of money to bring in more D help |

My initial answer is no because it's not a huge change either way meaning I dont think Trouba or Provorov is substantially better than the other.

Winnipeg has cap issues and players to sign. I think #11 and a young player on ELC might be their target. |

I’ve already thrown our my reliably priced vet in UFA guy, they I would offer a deal. Brian Boyle. To me Boyle is a low risk, high reward player. I can’t even begin to tell you how turned off I am by the idea of signing Kevin Hayes. Look, I get it. He got 54 points last season and he’s a consistent mid 40’s point guy but he’s probably gonna wanna be paid like a top center. I don’t wanna Bobby Holik Hayes like the Rangers did. I’m not gonna spit shine a turd and tell you it’s beautiful. The idea of paying Hayes more than Couturier, right now, today, makes me cringe. - SuperSchennBros
What’s the high reward with Boyle ? He is what he is at this point |

I have no respect, as far as hockey goes, for Brian Boyle after the Karlsson/Carkner incident. - jmatchett383

Improvement of the Penalty kill, where we were poor at. Added leadership, which we’ve sorely needed. Size, which I don’t feel we have a lot of. Added depth to the bottom six. I’m not sure about you but I didn’t enjoy watching Phil Vorone or Corban Knight this past season.
I think you just see what you want to see. |

There is no high reward. He is a solid player. Not someone I classify as a high reward type is all |

How you can say he’s a solid player and follow up by saying he’s not high reward, I don’t even understand what that’s suppose to mean. |

See Gudas, Radko - Coburns_Nose
Radko Gudas can absolutely be classed as a low risk, high reward for any team. Great example.
We need a bottom six that can offer something when the stars need rest. The fact that Couturier and Giroux have started a lot of penalty kills together is damning. This is why you at least consider a Brian Boyle or players like him. |

Nobody hated Berube more than me, while he was here. I guess you can’t question his ability to coach, it’s his people skills. Every time I see him in an interview, I just wanna throw a tomato at him...
He’d probably catch it and very accurately throwing back, taking my head off. |
