Leafs fans are very unrealistic with their expectations.... (see 2018-2019 playoffs)
They think they can acquire a #1 defensemen, top 10 in the league, who is in his prime for garbage.
Doughty for Marner (makes sense from a cap perspective and a player perspective).
Doughty + 3rd for Nylander, Sandin, 2nd, and throw in Khadri (Isn't worth much) to make the Cap work. - RedRevenge
Leafs are unrealistic with their expectations yet Kadri, a bonafide second line centre, albeit with an attitude issue isn't worth much.

I doubt they can get him, but if they could swing this;
Doughty to Toronto
Kadri & Marleau to LA
|
|
|

Doughty to Panthers for all their hotshot prospects. Low income tax in Florida. Drew still gets sun and beaches plus the bonus odd cataclysmic hurricane. |

Be tough for Doughty or Subban to accept a trade to the Islanders since Lou pretty much does not want players with personality, long hair and beards. Doughty has all three! Not saying it's impossible but the likelihood is low. |

I would argue that he costed you the the series and maybe the 2019 cup....
This is the second year in a row where he made a bonehead penalty and was ejected from the series. What team is going to want to risk that???? I mean he has some value, but not the inflated value that Leaf fans think. |

Kadri is worth much more in Toronto than anywhere else in the league so posters here should try and stop peddling him in every trade involving the Leafs desperate attempt at getting a NHL caliber d-man. |

See 2017-2018, 2018-2019 playoffs. Leafs need D and their team will become much weaker upfront. They need to make a hockey trade for a defensemen. Also, someone needs to get moved already to make the cap work. Who gets moved if not Kadri? |

Probably anyone but the cap-conscious 30 goal scoring center.
He's a bonehead, but the fact is that 30 goal scorers locked up for a few more years at 4.5mil don't grow on trees. |

In what universe does the leafs and oilers have money for him coming up on 11M....Yes he would probably fix about half their problems, put the leafs over the top even to contender over night but its not in the cards. - Donovan
RHN, Nurse and Lucic is 15mil, obviously some $$ would have to come back |

Be specific.
Marleau? Definitely not. NMC. He's making 6 million on a contending team and hasn't won the cup.
Nylander?????
Marner? Leafs would be silly to move him unless they received a quality defensive piece.
Zaitstev? Nope. Bad contract. Modified NTC.
Kadri/Nylander seems like the easiest players to move.

I disagree.
He had 30 goals the year before Tavares got here, that's keeping pace with a lot of first line centres in the game. His numbers were down this year I think due to the relegation to 3rd line duties.
That being said, his attitude concerns me. Suspensions are a problem.

Agreed he did take a terrible penalty resulting in a suspension for the 2nd year in a row. I am pretty much done with him as a fan TBH. That being said I don't think calling him a legit 2nd line centre is inflating his value at all.

Yep. Because no team ever talks about needing centre depth to be successful.
Like ever.

Whoa whoa whoa we were a Nazem Kadri away from winning the Cup this year! What about this need for D now?

Why would the Kings pick up another dinosaur when we're having a fire sale with our stockpile of crud(e) oil? If the Kings are going to move Doughty it has to include young assets and the only way I see the King's picking up leftover pieces is if the other team takes on 1/2 of the salary and provide quality draft picks. - kingsfan626
marleau is nothing but a cap dump. he could ride out the tank year in cali.
the leafs probably can't make a deal that makes sense for the kings without including marleau. |

With the Leafs cap situation it simply would not work unless it's Matthews.
Matthews for Doughty and Kings 1st rounder. Maybe a centre prospect. |

I don't hate the leafs. Just most of their fans.
It's all speculation. The leafs made it to game 7 against the Bruins while missing an important piece. Columbus made it to game 6 and Carolina couldn't even win a single game.
The leafs were a lot closer to making it to the SCF than it looks. The problem is that the cap is here to tear down the team. Not hating, just stating facts.
Think about this:
Let's say he's a #2 center..... But he's been suspended 2 straight years during the playoffs (value gets reduced). Leafs up against the salary cap and need to move players (value gets reduced even more). See my point? Even if he's a #2 center, his value is going to be lower than normal. Now this is all speculation, but this is what I've seen from the Hawks poop show. It's taken them 3 years to finally get back onto their feet after the cap came. |
