Hearing some rumours that Flames are looking at trading James Neal for Loui Erickson. - Reubenkincade

I don't really like either player, but would prefer James Neal over Erickson.
He can be bought out.😁
Loui on the other hand... |

Pettersson didn't carry this team all by his lonesome. If one player could do that then Mcjesus would have made the playoffs every season.
Let's face it, if he fell in line with everyone else, of course he's going to say the Canucks suck. I don't think i've ever heard a "respected" hockey person give Jim Benning a vote of confidence. - manvanfan
You don’t listen very well, there are plenty of them who do, at least publicly. |

Heard it all before . Not convincing me. Winning face offs and keeping the puck out of our net has different value to the two of us.
Much like I didn't think the Sedins were worth the 7 mil they were being paid , many players walked away saying they learnt a lot from them.
I do know we win more with Sutter and Beagle in the line up than without.
Beagle is 3 mil not 4 mil - VANTEL
Well, what a bargain.
If you want to keep the puck out of the net don't bring back the same f*cking awful defense. But idiot Benning thought it would be better to add a $3 million 4th liner. |

Spending $4 million on a 4th line player for a team floating around the bottom of the standings and years away from being relevant was as smart as signing Loui Eriksson.
Sorry Makita, Benning is an idiot. - Marwood
No worries my friend, I know it is the popular sentiment, I just don’t agree and thought I would throw it out there to give an alternative. |

James Neal
https://www.capfriendly.com/players/james-neal
Buyout $1.91 mill for 8 years
Loui Eriksson
https://www.capfriendly.com/players/loui-eriksson
Buyout $555,556 for 6 years
Ya, would rather have Loui..... - chompsey
Loui has a final buyout cap hit of 1 million dollars more than Neal.
I do get what your point is though, I just believe that Neal provides something in the physical department and is a better player than Loui.
Moot point though, as I doubt this trade will happen. |

I know not everyone agrees but you are entitled to your own opinions and you are allowed to share them. Even if they are wrong.
I can't decide if I hate Benning or Benning apologists more. |

I think they are moving in the right direction ....but with the central looking like it has a strong 5 the canucks would have to finish top 3 in the pacific
come July 5th after the draft and the beginning of free agency we will have a better look at all the teams for next year - Redmile247
My take as well. Divisional games have always been of huge importance. Begin there.

Here’s why I don’t think the Canucks make the playoffs for a few years yet. Edler is their best defender. It won’t be long before the younger guys take over, but going into round 1 of the playoffs this year would you have rather had Edler or Bouwmeester, who is 6th or 7th on the Blues depth chart? |

The biggest issue to me for canucks fans wanting to see playoffs is I don’t see a current playoff team that I would pick below the canucks ...leading up to the playoffs there were many in here who picked Colorado, Dallas, even the blues as teams who weren’t as good as they were playing.
Most likely there will be a team that misses from this year as it always seems to happen - Redmile247
Everyone has their own opinions and hopes or desires. I stand by my prediction that the Canucks will be a bubble wild card team. You ask who will they pass, as Ferraro said (someone likes his insight and quotes as gospel) not one of these teams is making a case to be in the 2 wild cards spots and it is pathetic.
The whole wild card race was really tight right down to the wire, 6 wins is not too many to overcome, poop happens every year.
BTW bubble team doesn’t mean securing a spot. |

Maybe just maybe it takes more than a magic wand to remake the D in one season. Patience or you rather JB go UFA hunting? |

I agree, this defense and the entire team defense structure, is horrible.
As bad as this defense Is, most of the forwards are pretty clueless on what to do without the puck. |

Four or five in my opinion. Especially if you’re doing it through the draft. We have zero full time NHL defensemen from the last six years of drafting, that’s not good enough.
Edit: one if you count Hughes. |

He’s played five NHL games, but he should/will be fulltime next season. |

So, when did/does the clock start? Are we five years into rebuilding the D, one, two?
I would say two, three or four more seasons until we see real improvement. |
