Everyone has their own opinions and hopes or desires. I stand by my prediction that the Canucks will be a bubble wild card team. You ask who will they pass, as Ferraro said (someone likes his insight and quotes as gospel) not one of these teams is making a case to be in the 2 wild cards spots and it is pathetic.
The whole wild card race was really tight right down to the wire, 6 wins is not too many to overcome, poop happens every year.
BTW bubble team doesn’t mean securing a spot. - Makita
I think as of today the Avs and stars look much better than the teams that were part of that group fighting or not fighting to get in |

Its really easy to sit there and say that for where youre sitting. I feel like you aren't looking at the big picture. Ultimately JB wears every player decision but it should go with saying that management, ownership, coaching and scouting all go into deciding the direction of the team i.e. players to draft, sign, style of play, rebuild vs retool...
He was left with ZERO in the cupboards, saddled with NMC/NTC's, expectations of ownership.....I think thats why he's been given a long leash with ownership.
I think he's definitely been above average in drafting. Every draft is not going to be a homerun - name one GM who does? His trades certainly have left a sour taste on many occasions but I commend him for trying to be proactive - thank god he isn't Mike Milbury!
Its this god damn fickle Vancouver market that I find infuriating. Half you guys talk out your ass yet seem to dominate the narrative here.
If there is blame, I put it on FA for not embracing the rebuild earlier. I know Vantel trumpeted that ages ago....I support JB and will continue to do so..... - chompsey
Agree completely, I’m not foolish enough to think Benning sits alone on every decision. But he’s sitting in the GM’s chair so I need to point my finger at someone |

The AV’s are trending nicely. The Stars had Heiskanen to draft & a good pick that was to get. Without him they would be struggling with their boring stifling style. When the owner speaks out about his stars Seguin & Benn it’s an omen. |

Why this need to point fingers at all? One man doesn’t get all the blame nor all the credit. |

Left field comment if i ever heard one lol - Nighthawk
Left field? Chompsey directly compared Benning to Mike Milbury. I mean, I guess there are other terrible GM’s out there but guess what, when you google “who is the worst GM in NHL history” here’s the first result https://www.google.ca/amp...agers-in-nhl-history/amp/
Ps, Gillis is number 7 on the list. |

Did you want me to name all the poopty GM's? Would that make you happier? He was the first one to pop into my head for obvious reasons, he's (frank)in horrid and we can all definitely agree on that! |

What fan needs Google if they watched hockey for over 50yrs? I don’t. Pollock raped the LAK forever during his tenure. The Leafs had 50yrs of nothing. The Wings & Hawks had decades of crap. I could go on & on being a fan & not some info internet site that knows squat. |

I’m just saying that comparing our guy to the group of terrible GMs and saying “at least he’s not that” is not a vote of confidence. A better way to say it would have been to compare him to someone who has been very successful and suggest that maybe Benning hasn’t been Doug Wilson successful yet, but he’s on the right track! |

What does any of this have to do with what we’re talking about?
Good for you, you have a good memory for poopty GM’s. That doesn’t change the fact that the bar for Benning was set at Milbury, which was what I was responding to, which is squarely in centre field... |

I just disagree with how the teams been managed over the past five years, a lot of that falls on Aquilini, but Benning shares much of that blame too. That positive thing is, by being poor at his job they gave themselves access to the best kids in the world through the draft and they’ve made some progress because of it.
That’s not unique to the Canucks though, most teams who draft top five get better sooner or later. |

Doug Wilson eh
Yes he’s been a staple in SJ.
Yes he has not won a cup.
Yes he has been at it much longer.
In Vancouver we forget the good times.
Pres Cups, Cup Finals, Hart winner.
If he were in a top hockey market he woulda been gone already. All said Wilson has done well as did Lombardi did in LA. Lombardi won 2 cups & got his walking papers. |

The first five are on Linden, so Benji will get five of his own. |
