He was handed a team that missed the playoffs. Gillis made no changes to the team after he was fired.

What is Benning supposed to say lol

His job is on the line

- Redmile247

I think it is on the line a lot less than most think it is. Last I heard he had the full support of the Canucks ownership.

I agree. Much like the casual fans, ownership seems to be placated somewhat by the shiny new toys in Petey and Quinn

I think "not doing a good enough job" is basically a nice way of saying "I'd like to take a chance on someone else and hope for better".

I think the guy is a draft scout in over his head as a President and/or GM of a NHL team.

Just my opinion of course, if you and Makita like him as the GM, that's fine too.

You know I just can’t seem to get my point through, it is not either pro Benning or con Benning.

I was responding to the nauseating Benning is an idiot posts, so I posted to say he isn’t as bad as the constant griping is being posted.

He is both good and bad....good grief. Hope it gets through...just to be non confrontational.... you guys.

In Bennings first season as GM the team had 100+ points. He was handed a playoff team and he drove it into the ground.

That’s fair, but I believe your opinion to be closed minded, as chompsey pointed out he had zero to work with and has slowly put together a better product than he was given.

But after reading this negativity every day for a few years, I find it’s like politics, the negative nellies are all loud, boisterous, made up scenarios, skewed untrue narratives until someone comes along that is open minded and points at the positives, the nellies get angry or walk away.

Banning ain't perfect...but the blind hatred for him on here clouds the judgement of where the team is heading and the good things that have been done.

Anyone listen to Burkie's take on Edler this morning? I sort of agree . I think C-nucks could be drawing the line in the sand on the term?

I understand the ill feelings towards him but some get a little overblown.

When I see things about wasting money and Canucks have the top 3 best cap space with over 30 mil and 20 players signed.

I don't also get the anger over the Lucic trade and the Edler extension. If they happen okay speak your mind on the deal but Christ at least let it happen first.

Someone mentioned earlier Canucks were 2, 3, 6 , and 9 . I get it they are bottom 10 finishes but at least is is not a decade like some teams and we seem to be going in the right direction.

Drafting quality players like Boeser, Demko, Pettersson and Hughes aren't flukes which provides future direction for this club. We aren't really going to be picking top 10 anymore so we need to round it all out. Whether Benning is the guy to accomplish that remains to be seen.

I think they are starting to get more group input and not one person calling the shots on everything. Benning does have the final say of course.

I do agree with Vintsy , Canucks need a better assistant GM . I do like training and promoting within the ranks though.

The only exception I would take with this is why use the worst teams in the league as a bench mark? “The Canucks are bad, but at least they’re not the Oilers” shouldn’t make anyone feel better...

Where did I compare them to the Oilers? I think you are misunderstanding something?

where were we projected to finish? what were expectations from ownership? what does a good bad team look like?

EP must make it a bit easier to watch.

"I get it they are bottom 10 finishes " Vantel

I'm just happy we got BB, QH and EP40, holding on hope on OJ. How else were we going to get these players
