99% of Rumored talk never happens .

I think Canucks will look at the back end . They have 17 forwards that they need to figure out 13 spots for. That might be a 2020 project and they give one last kick at the can to Loui Spooner and Sven.

JB would be a fool to trade young assets for Kessel.
- VanHockeyGuy

I endorse this statement

If Phil had 1 year left and Van was already a playoff team maybe.

Brought up before but

I'd prefer if JB made a trade with Ottawa who need 16 million in cap hits to get to the floor.

Bobby Ryan plus a pick in 2020 (they have 7 in the first 3 rounds) for Spooner and Eriksson.
7.25 for Ryans cap hit vs 9.1 for Spooner and Eriksson

20 million in actual dollars for Ryan vs 12 million for Spooner and Eriksson.

Most likely. Pearson and Leivo have earned their spots so they are solid.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Loui now that he has called Green out and has basically pushed for a trade. The swap for Lucic could actually happen. Gonna be hot around here lol

- LordHumungous

I thought Spooner had a lot of chances last year with no finish. I think they will give him a shot at trying to change that after a long summer. It will be a short leash but a leash

Sven ? Health?

Loui? Fire him out of a canon

I will say 5 words that have never been said on HB before.

Benning needs to get creative.

Roland McKeown is now not waiver exempt for Carolina who have 6 D already under contract and Jake Bean and Haydn Fleury knocking on the door.

Mckeown is the player I wanted Van to draft in the 2nd round which JB traded him away to the Kings for Linden Vey, the Kings then drafted McKeown and later traded him to Carolina. Long story short, A young cheap buy low option for the Canucks.

Carolina might be looking for more forward depth option since Clark Bishop and Greg McKegg wouldn't very good in the playoffs. Might be someone like Schaller for Mckeown.

Yup. For example, if you have to give up a pick in 2020 to get a quality young player do it.

It sounds creative. Just need to outbid the other 30 GMs . That is the sort of deal Benning said he is looking for.

Hold it, isn't that what he did for Vey, Pouliot and Baertschi???? Yet he got crucified for it......

I think Broberg and Woo will both be ready in two years so we need short term solutions.

Hopefully he makes the right choice this time if he chooses this route.

Exactly the problem, 30 other GM's that have other ideas like Say Edmonton wanting a better D from Carolina and paying a higher price like RNH for Hamilton or something. Opens a spot for McKeown on the right side if they choose.

There are probably lots of possibilities and as much as we discuss trades for players by the sounds of it, GM's through out ideas to each other all the time as well.

This is why I strongly encourage to draft Broberg or York. The cost is stupid to acquire a Dman. Even Juolevi who hasn't done anything has good trade value.

Long term I absolutely hate the idea of taking a D in this draft in the first round unless it's Byram at 10 or they trade down to at least 15th or later.

What's the point of loading up the left side D? Why do they need 3 LHD and 1 RHD?

You mentioned awhile ago, about a trade with Montreal, which I agreed with, they get 10th with Canucks getting 15th.
What do you think is a fair price for moving up 5 spots?

I believe Habs would really like too get Lavoie, but I doubt he will be available at 15.

Broberg plays both sides as he played U18 on the right side. I don't have a lot of faith in OJ

MTL holds 46, 48 and 77.

Only person that has traded up in the range in the past while is Ottawa and New Jersey and Ottawa went up 1 spot from 11 to 10 and it cost them a 3rd round pick. Personally to move up 1 spot I think Ottawa over paid.

Rumour I heard from a cousin from his friend who knows somebody (you know the chain of communication and how it goes) but VGK offer to move up was a 5th round pick and unconfirmed on which draft year it was from.

If MTL wants Lavoie and don't think there is a chance he's around at 15 then I'd ask for another 2nd if I was JB.

I always hear about this "he can play both sides". The NHL isn't junior or college anymore, it's not u18s. It's the NHL. You aren't playing against 2/3 of a roster that will never have an impact in the NHL.

I swear I think the only defenders in the past 15 years that I can remember that played constantly on their offside and did it well constantly was Andrei Markov and Jake Muzzin. I'm not even sure how often Muzzin has been playing the right side anymore.

We have watched Chris Tanev a very capable defender get slaughtered on his off side.
