It'll be awkward should he play, but if he does fairly decent, it won't be news for long. |

It will be interesting to see the spin the team (Leafs) put on signing him. Yeah I can see the Leafs getting him from the Kings but how hard will it be to convince players like Tavares, Marleau and the wives, mothers and girlfriends of the players that he's a good guy. Chemistry in the room is important and he could be a big problem that isn't worth the grief may bring in trading for him. - islansjet
GMs will never say it but they'll always take talent over character. Ideally you'd like to have both traits in a player. Look at the Cleveland Browns GM, Dorsey signing his former Chiefs running back, Hunt about 5 seconds after he was able to be signed. Hunt was caught on video beating the crap out of his girlfriend. But hey he's a heck of a running back so let's sign him! Voynov will be a Leaf. The spin will be gag worthy. |

Yes. Definitely time to figure out how they integrate Voynov into the dressing room/WAG lounge. And damn the media (and not the handful of fans voluntarily bringing it up in this forum) for always making it about the Leafs. |

I would guess he signs for 1 to 2 mill and if he blows gets "sent to ahl" and contract is terminated by both parties |

I was always a bit perplexed at the Voynov suspension. Not that what he did wasn't wrong and that he didn't deserve it but it did not seem in line with the reaction to other incidents. Both E. Kane and P. Kane had similar incidents of violence against women and in both cases it was brushed aside. Could the NHL's and NHLPA's North American bias and Russophobia be that blatant?
In any case, the NHLPA has already shown that it has no principles whatsoever by reducing the suspensions of players like Tom Wilson. Nothing they do at this point surprises me. As long as a player remains in good standing with the NHLPA and can provide value to his team he has nothing to worry about. I guess that is where Raffi Torres messed up. |

I had the same thoughts, here's my thought.
People have short term memories.
We live in outrage culture
I'm sure alot more nhl and every other sports athletes have done this or worse and it just never got reported on. This was in the news with police report
Anyway if he comes back and puts up 80 points and is +100 no one would say poop
Edit: people would say poop alot. |

Voynov is going to the Oilers. They need defensive help, his contract will not be expensive, and he doesn't have to deal with the US media (who will make a really big deal about this). On the plus side for Voynov, it's too cold for people to protest outside of Edmonton. Also, I don't think the protestors know where Edmonton is. |

Oilers media is crazy. Leafs media is another level. Habs media is a complete gong show. |

He's right about it being cold though. Plus nobody will protest if it means 1 more win. |

I mean, both E.Kane and P.Kane were not charged, so that's not really the same thing. E.Kane allegedly beat up a girl, all charges were dropped. P.Kane allegedly raped a girl, all charges were dropped. Only the two people involved know for sure, but accused does not equal convicted, no matter how much you think they are scumbags.
Voynov however WAS charged, WAS arrested and WAS found guilty and WAS imprisoned for beating the poop out of his wife. |
