Not sure how many 4th line centers or 4th liners in general would be described as "special". Kampf seems to be a constant object of your ire. Why's that? Doesn't hit enough? Not enough redass?
I think he's a decent comp for the guy he's likely replacing (Kruger), with a bit more size.

I remember when Kruger was trying to find his way as a 4th line center and was routinely blasted in these parts because his knuckles failed to reach the ground.
I think Kampf can be a decent pivot for the 4th line...jmo, and I suppose we'll see this season. - HawkintheD
I just don't think he is a player that help the hawks win and would make a difference in the playoffs. Hopefully he proves me wrong and turns out to be s good solid player i just don't see it.
