Obviously the oilers have had too many first overalls to not be good, but I think having the 3 centres they have they can be a good team in a short time if a few things get right - Redmile247
Draisaitl primarily plays wing. |

They are on thier own and it takes 20 guys pulling together and they won't with mcdavid unless he changes his personalty and stop reporting to management on players and helping with decisions it rubs players the wrong way. - Bettmanhatesus
It's actually not McDavid's leadership that's the problem. I'd be frustrated too is what it is. |

Exactly. They don't need to do much just add the proper ingredients. Once they have Ericsson they'll be on their way lol |

Those 3 have been playing together for 4 years.. everyone says the exact same after every failed year. What makes you think they are going to change |

Just like when Chia and Mclellan first got there, once Holland gets his coach things will happen. Holland is obviously a much more successful GM than Chia things will happen. |

That must be even harder. Oilers are getting beaten because it is a gong show. Jets have been doing everything right and still haven't got to the finals.
Frustrating

I have no idea how Chiarelli and Benning won a Stanley Cup together. Helluva scouting department I guess. |

Needs approval from assistant gm connor, you can't have that plain and simple, concentrate on hockey and be one of the guys, you are not higher than the team. |

Article in the Athletic, part of it.
“The chart above depicts each team’s 5-on-5 goal differential when one of their top two centres (according to 5-on-5 TOI) wasn’t on the ice, a proxy for bottom-six minutes.
The poster child of poor depth undermining high-end talent has typically been the Edmonton Oilers, and for good reason — their bottom six was miles behind every other team in mustering just 1.12 goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5, although because they allowed fewer than two goals per 60, they weren’t among the five worst teams.
What may surprise is you is just how far behind Vancouver lags. When the Canucks’ top two centres in Horvat and Elias Pettersson weren’t on the ice, Vancouver’s bottom six was outscored by just shy of an entire goal for every 60 minutes they played, the worst rate in the league.” |

I am shocked watching the World Championships and the 2 teams that several of you suggested had caught or passed Canada, aren't playing anymore, yet Canada is still playing.
Go Canada. |

I bet other bottom 6 players also did not have Pouliot Biega and Hutton defending |

I don't really approve of TG's usage of lines so far. Neither does LE or Granny who have both said the same thing about how Green starts them in the D zone a lot. Beagle was at 81.5% this season. |

The defence is an issue for sure, we have been one of the worst teams in the league for creating offense from the defense over the past few years, however, Biega played 41 games and Pouliot 62, they are just poor excuses.
The real problem lies with a simple lack of talent. Sutter’s averaged 12 goals at even strength his first two years, last year he only had 2 because of injury. Ten more would’ve helped but we’d still be at the bottom. |

Ya, Green is an idiot, for putting Elias and Brock or Bo's line on the ice, for offensive zone starts.
