I don't really approve of TG's usage of lines so far. Neither does LE or Granny who have both said the same thing about how Green starts them in the D zone a lot. Beagle was at 81.5% this season. - manvanfan
I don't know what this means at all. I don't follow analytics at all even thought they do have the word ANAL in it.
I think the last two years are transition years and the team is starting its climb. There will be good and bad every year but as long as we keep climbing I am good. |

The defence is an issue for sure, we have been one of the worst teams in the league for creating offense from the defense over the past few years, however, Biega played 41 games and Pouliot 62, they are just poor excuses.
The real problem lies with a simple lack of talent. Sutter’s averaged 12 goals at even strength his first two years, last year he only had 2 because of injury. Ten more would’ve helped but we’d still be at the bottom. - Pacificgem
Well I don't see a real problem like others do I guess.
I think Canucks biggest problem over the last decade was not changing the core earlier.
They got rid of the core now and are bringing in a new core which means they will hit rock bottom and then start climbing again. |

Defensive zone starts. The same as Sutter has been used but 10% more then Sutter. Pettersson is 70% offensive zone starts.
Basically TG is asking Beagle to play against the other teams top lines and defend against them in the defensive zone. Seems reasonable because Beagle is good on faceoffs and at playing defence but again you are asking a 4LC to play against other teams top lines (the best players on each team usually).
I highly doubt that Beagle is going to be a plus players against other teams top lines every night.
How often does a 4th line best a 1st line on the other team. No matter how amazing the 4th line is defensively. |

Thank you for the explanation .
I will be truthful but not meaning to be critical. Maybe I am being a little humorous.
Analytics always makes me think of Anal Lyrics or Comforting read for the bumholes.
That is not aimed at you or anyone that uses them it is what I think of when I hear the word.
What you described that was written is something I can look at any Canuck game and see Beagle playing against McDavid or Crosby and know we are in our own zone.
I knew just by watching every game that Beagle will get the defensive zones and Bo and Petey will get the O zone starts. I know Beagle plays against top players of the other teams.
I guess that is why we old dogs don't want to learn new tricks because we already know the answers |

Except Bo plays against the othe teams top line, not Beagle. Beagle will play some minutes against top6 for sure but thd guy only plays 12-13 minutes a night. Takes a lot of faceoffs, but doesnt log the bog defensive minutes. |

Obviously everyone watching the game can see the same thing. How often it happens. We know Hughes is good at zone exits, would anybody have known in his 5 games that he was double, triple every other defencemen. Probably not.
Stats are sort of clarification of what you see out there and a more exact number.

He plays the majority of minutes against the top line. Just like any other top defensive center. I never said he plays 40, but he does play quite a bit more than 12-13. Beagle is a good 4C but there is a reason he plays such limited minutes. Bo took tons of faceoffs in all zones against top lines. |

Look at that ask compared to the rest of those offers, he must think Benning is retarded or really hate the rest of the roster outside of Bo/EP/Hughes/Boeser |

Markstrom should be traded at the draft, but I’m not going to hold my breath. - DrChristianTroy
His value may never be higher than it is right now. I'd call up Carolina or Columbus who have some great d prospects and need a goalie |

Frolik/Bennett and the Dvorak offers seem more than reasonable, Bennett is a nice 3rd liner but Zucker can be a 20-30 goal winger on a pretty decent contract. Dvorak's upside is a middle 6 center so that sounds about right.
Kessel turns 32 so in October so I think that offer is fair as well.
Vegas offer is terrible since Marchessault is money for them and on a really good contract.
The Canucks one is by far the worst, I'd rank Boeser way ahead of those other guys in terms of trade value, even Marchessault due to the age difference. |

I think if Canucks had a proven back up and a goalie waiting to make it in the NHL sure , but Demk has played 10 games . I can't see it at all this summer . Maybe at TDL

you gotta take some risks if you want to build a contender in the future
I'm sure they could sign a vet goalie to split starts with Demko like Smith, Elliott, McElhinney, etc.
But again, I think the "I don't care if we miss the playoffs next year crowd" is more on board with trading Marky than the "I would love to see them make the playoffs crowd" |

If Kielly has a good season in Utica and Demko has a good one in Vancouver sure but selling high and leaving a rupture is not an ideal time to sell high. |

It’s what smart/bold management would do IMO. When you have several young lotto ticket goalies in the pipeline and a current starter at his peak value with an expansion draft approaching, you trade the current starter for future assets and acquire a stop gap for your sh!tty team. |

So could those other teams looking for a goalie and not have to give up assets
