I think if Canucks had a proven back up and a goalie waiting to make it in the NHL sure , but Demk has played 10 games . I can't see it at all this summer . Maybe at TDL - VANTEL
I mean, there are plenty of ufa goalies that are vets enough to split starts with demko. Selling high and then replacing him with a cheaper option woukd be pretty great imo. But yeah, i agree with you they won’t do it as he stepped up and was the MVP |

It’s what smart/bold management would do IMO. When you have several young lotto ticket goalies in the pipeline and a current starter at his peak value with an expansion draft approaching, you trade the current starter for future assets and acquire a stop gap for your sh!tty team. - DrChristianTroy
At TDL after Demko has had the security of Markstrom for most of the year |

So could those other teams looking for a goalie and not have to give up assets - VANTEL
Teams like Carolina, Columbus are playoff teams, probably not looking to rely on those dudes to make the playoffs again next year.
If they haver their own version of Demko then perhaps, I'm not too familiar with their goalie prospects though.

I think next year’s TDL returns will be pitiful with teams salivating at the 2020 draft... Now is the time to pull the trigger, add a high pick this year who will be a year closer to NHL contribution. Markstrom could get us another 1 this year. If he struggles at all, he won’t even bring a 3rd at the TDL. |

His value will be highest this summer. He could suck goat balls next season, trade him now. |

And as you mentioned, the looming expansion draft. Plus there's also the risk that Markstrom regresses next year and Demko outplays him, then Markstrom's market value/hype will certainly die down. Let season the HNIC crew were riding Markstrom hard every time the Canucks were playing on Saturday night. |

Korpisalo is a little ahead of Demko plus I am not sure they are a playoff team . Depends who comes back.
I don't know about Carolina . I think they will just sign McElhinney and Mrazek again

I don't think they're a playoff team either as of now, but their goal is to make it back there, that's all that matters. Their fans seem pretty high on their AHL talent so I assume their management is hoping to pull an Islanders and replace Panarin/Bob from within. |

I think trading your MVP goalie with your back up playing only 10 games is what an unemployed GM would do.
Lets see if it happens . I might be wrong but I don' t see them trading Markstrom

Kevin Hayes will be one of the top centers available in free agency in July. With that in mind, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports in his latest 31 Thoughts column that several teams have already started doing their due diligence on the 27-year-old, including the Blackhawks, Avalanche, and Flyers.
Price for Hayes will be too high now. |

That must be even harder. Oilers are getting beaten because it is a gong show. Jets have been doing everything right and still haven't got to the finals.
Frustrating - VANTEL
Jets are my second team because of my Mom. She passed in 2009 but is still with me in so many ways I just can't explain it. She was devastated when the Jets moved to ARZ then didn't get to see the return to WPG. Jets still have a great club but it's gonna be a struggle for them to go deep in the PO's from here. Lots of ingredients still needed. |

Like I said, waiting it out to the TDL is a pillow-biter strategy. This management is as marshmellow soft as the team. |

True pretty good coaches...But I'm sure Holland's vision for the club is different from what Mclellan and Hitch were capable of. |

Russo on MN radio says Jason Zucker has been shopped to CGY for Frolik/Bennett, PIT for Kessel, ARZ for Dvorak (turned down) - ARZ countered with Fischer, VGK for Marchessault, VAN for Boeser (VAN laughed and hung up) - VANTEL
Markstrom to Cgy for a 1st and then Cgy's 1st to Minnesota for Zucker. |

Thank you for the explanation .
I will be truthful but not meaning to be critical. Maybe I am being a little humorous.
Analytics always makes me think of Anal Lyrics or Comforting read for the bumholes.
That is not aimed at you or anyone that uses them it is what I think of when I hear the word.
What you described that was written is something I can look at any Canuck game and see Beagle playing against McDavid or Crosby and know we are in our own zone.
I knew just by watching every game that Beagle will get the defensive zones and Bo and Petey will get the O zone starts. I know Beagle plays against top players of the other teams.
I guess that is why we old dogs don't want to learn new tricks because we already know the answers ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/lol.gif) - VANTEL

Yeah . I think so. Anyone can build a cup winner in Fantasyland but very few if any GMs trade their MVP and go with a rookie unproven goalie. |

Who said to go with an unproven rookie goalie? Obviously we sell high & buy low on a stop gap vet to share the load. This is about maximizing leverage, a looming expansion draft, & the likelihood of a repeat performance from Markstrom... This isn’t fantasyland BS - it’s legit strategic management. |

So how about we keep our goalie and trade our 10th OA for PK Subban . Alpha GM
Why would any team give up a first round pick for Markstrom when McElhinney is sitting there as UFA?
