Were you back on LI for the douche fest this weekend? - JRR1285
Huh? I never left here. You'll have to be more specific as to which douche fest you're referring to |

Nope, I was living in Forest Hills a few years ago but I got the hell out of there.
I didn't partake in any particularly douchey, wild MDW fun (not the stupid fat-loving mdw). A few of my friends shot across on the boat to Flynn's yesterday and said it was about as terrible as anyone would expect it to be |

I'm just so done with the traffic and poop here. When I was in Arizona it was like heaven. |

Yeah same in Colorado. We're seriously considering a move to Denver. Long Island sucks. |

I know I mentioned this in an earlier blog, but this is the litmus test of whether anyone would even sign an offer sheet (top tier at least). Rangers have restocked their prospect pool, have 2 more first this year, and if the reports are correct, look to get Dallas 1st next year as well. If there ever was a time to deal 4 1sts, it's now. I think if we were serious about doing that, it would come with a trade first.
You never know, but you'd have to think with this core and adding Marner, the average of those first would be in the teens. I'd trade 4 picks in the teens for Marner all day. - 2sticks1puck
The only risk I see in an offer sheet is being in the lotto again, next year it would probably be 1-10 again you’d think. Maybe not, but it’s certainly a risk. Would suck to be in an Ottawa situation, but Marner is the real deal and you’d have him for years |

I mostly like it here but it seems like we are just moving at light speed towards obnoxious over population. Thing is we own a house here. Good thing we are on track to have it paid off in less than 15 years. It's worth so much more than we paid for it already too. Take all of that money and buy a nice place in another state once all the relatives are dead. |

Man that recreational must really be popular. My one friend lives in Philly, and he is considering a move to Denver this summer. I've heard it is nice out there, but I couldn't imagine being that far from the beach. Snowing in April/May kinda sucks too. |

I'd argue though it worked out for them. They wanted Tchacuk, got him, and avoided the Avs getting Hughes/Kakko.
The first year would be dangerous for sure. I think though we wind up in the low teens at worst. If somehow the Leafs got #1 out of that, that's just awful luck. |

Yeah I mean I generally like it here but Nassau is going to be Queens-East in 20 years and Suffolk is going to be Nassau. No disrespect to anyone who lives there, but I absolutely abhor almost all of Nassau County, save for the Gold Coast (won't be living there any time soon) and a small handful of towns.
Everything is overpriced and aging rapidly and both counties are varying degrees of bankrupt and clearly retarded given that they've both announced that they'd opt out of legalizing pot. The infrastructure in place simply isn't enough to handle the amount of people that live here. I have to slog up and down the Wantagh from/to the Southern State every day for work and the fact that it's only two lanes is comical.
What I've started realizing over the past few years is that I really only love it here in the summer because of the beach. Otherwise, I think it's mostly awful. |

I lived there for almost 5 years, and it's also frequently in the 60's during the winter months. Had a couple years where it was 70 on Christmas day. |

They just got lucky it worked out. Everyone was laughing at them for almost two years.
But with that even said Marner is way better then Duchene has or will ever be, so it wouldn’t be nearly as bad |

I think LI has, mostly, jumped the shark. People here (LI/NYC/etc... in general) have an attitude (myself included when I was younger) like this is one of only a handful of great places to live. Now when I travel I laugh about how much newer/nicer/affordable things in other places are. |

Yeah one of my Uber drivers when we were there told me to make sure I told everyone back in NY that "it just snowed and was freezing all year round and that they should never move here" |

The beach is one of the only things making it a difficult decision for me to leave. But as far as the snow in April/May, I think that recent snowstorm was more of freak thing than the norm. When I was there in April it was in the low-70's and beautiful almost every day. |

I agree with you but there is something behind that statement/belief. I know it is often difficult for some that think relocating will fix them being marginally successful/unsuccessful on LI. You still need to be skilled in some way to live a nice life anywhere. I know so many people that move away thinking it is some kind of magical cure-all and then they try to come back because they are living the same or worse but with no friends/family.
When I travel now I too am amazed at how nice other places are and how far your money can go in some ways. But the thing is you still need a good paying job relative to where you want to live. You might not live much better in South Carolina (popular destination for LI idiots) if you go down there and work an entry level job.
Way too many people I know or have spoken to don't seem to get this. My wife's brother (I refuse to call him a brother in law ) has moved away like 4 times thinking it's finally gonna work. He'll be back at some point. |

People are definitely finding out the truth about it. It's a great place for tech jobs if that's what you do. |
