If he brings back Bonino Im out lol - Rinosaur
Any deal involving JJ is going to bring back a player like Bones or Rask. Bones with a pretty decent year last year....17g/18a. Only 2 more years on his deal. I think it's imperative they get JJ off this roster and I'd gladly take Bones back for 2 more years than JJ for 4 more. |

I think they’re gonna try and move Schultz and figure out a way to get Subban.

Move Schultz and JJ and Kessel and they makes room for Subban and forward replacement for Kessel. - j.boyd919

I did look it up earlier. You just ignored it. My point was pretty clear.
I don’t feel the need to re-explain or go into further detail. |

Gudbranson moves the puck just fine too. He’s just a scapegoat for Malkin having an off year. Because god forbid anyone ever criticize him. |

We were talking about TOI.
I’m not against having Guds here. I thought he faired well. I’m not using him to blame Geno. I just don’t agree with you that he’s a good value. $4M for a 3rd pair isn’t good value. |

You're citing two separate things.
Petts in the playoffs was 18
Guds in the playoffs was 16 (19 in the regular season)
JJ in the playoffs was 15
You should expect your 3rd pair to play around 14/15 minutes a game and the Pens delivered on that for the most part. - Rinosaur

Your point was let's base everything on a four game playoff series and ignore the regular season which is stupid.
And that you actually contradicted your point that the third pairing guy only gets 14-15 minutes (he got 18). Meanwhile the second pair guy JJ got 15.
You actually don't want to explain because you got called out that you contradicted yourself in the same post using your own criteria. |

I get what Boyd is saying about bringing him back but GMJR was also willing to let him go. It could go either way but I think Phil would be more apt to potentially play alongside Bones or at least being on the same team again |

Tojo you need to back off. Only I get to argue needlessly with Rino. I mean, you didn’t even ask me first if it was ok. You just broke bro code |

Petts' numbers were also higher because he actually got PP time. The regular season is a bad gauge because of the rotating door of injuries that occurred this year, but the playoffs were a more accurate snapshot of what you'd expect with everyone healthy.

Oh and JJ received more special teams time the Pettersson because of the PK, so using Pettersson's PP time to justify explain the higher ice time was another mistake you made that took seconds to verify. 😂 |

No, my point is that it's a better gauge of what things look like when all were healthy as opposed to a rotating door of injured players and lower players having to take up their minutes.
You're clearly incapable of understanding a very basic concept. |

Which again is why I used Pettersson not Gudbranson, who was 3rd pairing all year. Basing anything conclusive off a 4 game sample is idiotic. |

Can you defend even one of your points? I'm begging you to explain how the Pens third pair only plays 14-15 minutes a game when Pettersson average 18 in both the playoffs and regular season. |

Until the playoffs when they had a full roster. Gudbranson and JJ's minutes went down. So your premise of the Pens asking more of their lesser dmen as 100% wrong. They played in the realm of what you expect when dealing with 3rd pairing guys.

Pens ask a lot more of their third pairing than most teams do. . - Tojo.
This is all I was discussing. You are straight up wrong. With a healthy roster, the lesser dmen played normal 3rd pairing minutes. |

And Rino aside, the larger point is the Pens don't hide or shelter their third pair like some teams do whose 6th defenseman only plays 12-14 minutes a game. So it wouldn't be a wise strategy to just put JJ or anyone you don't trust on the 3rd pair. |

Rumors have it Pittsburgh is not happy with the 8 teams Kessel will accept a trade to. He is trying to get them to deal him to Arizona. I wish TIOPs was correct with their report. They are reporting Wild is high on Hornqvist. If JR pulls a Horny for Zucker deal I would be ecstatic. |

My premise was about 3rd pairing, not lesser defensemen. JJ wasn't on the 3rd pairing.
The problem with using a 4 game sample is score effects, especially when you basically have no lead, means puck moving defensemen play more. Which is why you don't use a 4 game sample. |
