This is all I was discussing. You are straight up wrong. With a healthy roster, the lesser dmen played normal 3rd pairing minutes. - Rinosaur
You know there are teams that play 6th defensemen less than 10 minutes a night right?
If all you are discussing I my basic premise that the Pens ask more of their 3rd pair guys then most teams, then yes, you've proven nothing.
14-15 minutes is a good target in the regular season for most teams. Even Riikola and Ruhwedel averaged 16 though. I don't think you have any idea how much less comparable guys on many other teams play. |

Rumors have it Pittsburgh is not happy with the 8 teams Kessel will accept a trade to. He is trying to get them to deal him to Arizona. I wish TIOPs was correct with their report. They are reporting Wild is high on Hornqvist. If JR pulls a Horny for Zucker deal I would be ecstatic. - 123Kid
That would be fantastic, to bad it's TIOPS. |

5 out of the other 15
You know how many played their 6th guy more than Gudbranson? 3
You know how many played that 6th guy 14 or less, so 2 minutes less then Gudbranson at least? 11
But Pens definitely play their 3rd pair the same. 😂 |

If JR thinks Phil is tough to trade with his 8 team list. Hornie with his full NTC for the next 3 years could be really difficult. |

LeBrun reporting Pens stance on Kessel has softened. They still want to trade him, but won't unless they get an acceptable deal.
Like Russo in Minnesota, LeBrun doesn't think Minnesota is totally out of the question, but that Phil is hoping for a better landing spot. Like everyone he doesn't see an asset match in Arizona.
So if it's Minnesota or Pittsburgh, what do you think Phil chooses?
Also on the Athletic, Dom Lusczcyszyun, one of their resident stat guys, made the case that Zucker is a more valuable asset than anyone he's been linked to, including Phil. Good stuff that analyzed aging curve, linemates impact, chances created and prevented among other stats. With or without Phil involved, I hope we find a way to get this guy. |

It's TIOPS and it sounds kind of silly, but...
Fenton supposedly LOVES Hornqvist and is also an egomaniac and he feels embarrassed about the Kessel deal, so there could be a re-worked deal sending Horn for Zucker, but TIOPS seems unsure as to whether or not the Pens would do it.
If there is even a modicum of truth to this and the Pens actually said no? Well, I would 100% reserve myself to the fact the Pens window is officially closed. |

No. The Pens do what most average to above average teams do with their 3rd pair. - Rinosaur
Wait, but isn’t Columbus an average to above average team? Their 6th defenders all played well below 14 minutes. What about Nashville? They’re certainly a solid team. Gotta feel for Washington and Winnipeg who are constantly shielding Orpik and Kulikov |

Hornqvist has a full NTC. He's not going there either.
Plus... Rutherford was pissed about "buy in" from certain players. Hornqvist has never had a problem in that area. I don't think JR is remotely thinking about trading him. |

I think JR would consider trading him especially in this type of swap if he
1.) wants Zucker and sees him as a good fit for the Penguins and
2.) Wants to get faster and younger. |

I read that as well. I am hoping JR pulls this type of deal off. Also was just reading Vegas and Arizona are Kessels rumored top two/plausible trade destinations.per TIOPS. |

He misses Reaves. Just like the entire Pens roster organization and city. |
