Guddy 1 mil retained for Kadri. Maybe they're tired of getting pushed around by the B's.

Flip Kadri to Min for Zucker? I honestly believe Sid hates Kadri.

- Thorny87

How about JJ, $500K retained for Kadri? Lol

They’re competitors. I’m sure Sid would be fine. Not sure I want Kadri though.

Ah, had no idea about that.

Sportsnet has some really good videos where they discuss all the insider ongoings. One I really enjoyed earlier this year was Burke and the former Columbus GM (I always forget his name, he’s got white hair) were talking about expansion teams and how they had a say in stuff like the mascot and logos. Burke thought the Thrashers was a joke. The other guy could not believe the Bug was to be the CBJ mascot. He also divulged on some of their early first rounders like Gilbert Brule and how everyone had him pegged as a highly touted prospect etc

Kadri recently had two 30 goal campaigns and this year as a pure 3C he was no slouch. He’s still going to have a ton of value to a team like Dallas or Columbus who may miss out on Duchene and Hayes. With Willie taking his spot they’ll likely want cost controlled players and picks, same goes for TBL and to an extent WPG

Still not trying to argue but you did want Kadri before, didn’t you? He’s in the Marchand realm to me. I don’t want him on my team and he’s obviously no help when he’s suspended

I like your idea of Rust for Oesterle but I also like Tojo’s idea that if Phil won’t go to MN that maybe Rust with a couple high picks can net us Zucker. I would still also highly entertain Rask for JJ in some capacity. Where does that leave us? Idk. Maybe with this or an upgrade somewhere with Phil gone

Kadri is officially a liability IMO. I liked the idea of him previously, but after two playoffs in a row he can’t be trusted. I still believe the Leafs win that series if he was still in the lineup.

Random research looked at players who had at least 2000 minutes at 5v5 over the past year. 452 qualified players.

Zucker ranked 7th in GF% and 5th in xGF%. Out of 452. Take it back to 1000 minutes and he's 13th and 8th out of 650. 25th in goals and 44th in points.

That's kind of getting lost is this guy isn't just an ok ES player, he's pretty elite. Even if it's not for Phil, the Pens should still be trying to target this guy.

Doesn’t matter at this point. That trade is dead.

You should look into applying for an analytics job for one of these clubs or maybe you should take over writing the HB blog. Somehow you should get paid for your services. Clearly you put more thought into your comments than RW does

Idk. If they’re looking to get younger they could have interest in Maatta, Rust and a pick for Zucker while shipping Brodin out for futures. Makes perfect sense IMO. They’re also apparently listening on offers for Spurgeon who would be competition on the market for Schultz

Thus the even if not for Phil they should trade for him comment.

Still think Phil accepts if they can't come up with a better destination. Don't think he wants to be here anymore.

I can’t think if anyone they’d want aside from Phil to replace scoring.

That seems like an overpay for Zucker to me.

Can anyone explain why they're so eager to get rid of Zucker? He seems solid AF in all zones, is only 27 and has a cap hit of 5.5 which this season coming seems to be a fair price for what he brings....and he's signed for another 3 seasons.

Just depends on your valuation. Maatta was recently scratched so what’s he worth to another club, a 2nd? A 2nd and a 4th? The overall consensus seems to be Rust is worth a 3rd. So what’s the going rate for a solid top 6 winger. So what did I say: Maatta, Rust, and a pick? So it’s the equivalent of maybe two seconds and a third and maybe a prospect for a solid winger? It’s Fenton so maybe Maatta and Rust is an overpayment lol. I’m kidding... but seriously

Thanks but not really. Truthfully I don't understand some of the newer analytics. But the stats I can look up in a few seconds on naturalstattrick I can handle.

Minnesota has been a bit of a mess. Fenton came in and decided to blow up their younger core. Their analytics guys quit. Zucker just looks like a panic move off a disappointing year. The names attached to him are mostly 30ish point guys and a pick.

I get why Phil didn't want to go there.

So maybe he’s salivating over the idea of getting Rust and Maatta.

I can’t remember who but somewhere there’s a story written about former OTT GM Bryan Murray and how he stole a player from another team. The basics of the story is that he calls a GM talking about players A, B, and C but he really wants player D and casually later says “Well if player D were available that would be a player we could make a deal around” or something like that. The whole thing was very suave and he ended up stealing the trade. Could GMJR do the same to Fenton? Maybe

I know this board is very analytics-based, so can someone explain xGF? I just read that William Karlsson's xGF was 88.34.

I don't know, expecting a player to score 88 goals in a season sounds absurd to me, so I'm pretty sure that "expected goals for" does not really mean "expected goals for."

It’s the ex-girlfriend percentage. The higher the rate means the higher rate of retention by their girlfriends implying they get the job done.

It's how many goals a player is expected to be on the ice for based on the quality and quantity of shots generated while they're on the ice. It's a good measure of how much offense a player is creating and tries to take out those pesky "luck" factors like shooting percentage and goaltending.

EDIT- It's somewhat flawed as a lot of top players tend to way over perform which is why it gets tweaked alot.
