I'm not saying I don't film it and watch it while laying naked in motor oil every night. |

Guddy 1 mil retained for Kadri. Maybe they're tired of getting pushed around by the B's.
Flip Kadri to Min for Zucker? I honestly believe Sid hates Kadri. - Thorny87
I think Sid hates playing against him, precisely why he'd love to play with him. |

Not really. Have you watched the last two Leafs' series? I mean, Marchand and Wilson haven't been that dumb and they're way worse than Kadri. |

No kidding. This blues forecheck is brutal. Once they get the puck it’s a different story but their timing and angles are junk. Too easy to play against

He is a really good all around player who occasionally makes stupid decisions. That can be fixed.
That's why I'd actually be shocked if they traded Kadri, especially to the Pens. Kadri is way better than Bjugstad and McCann, our two other 3C candidates. Puts the Pens back on par (if not better) with the Sid, Geno and Staal center depth. |

I’m in no way denying or questioning how good Kadri is. He’s now had two major suspensions, two post-seasons in a row. What makes you think that can be fixed? He’s not a developing teenager, he’s an NHL Vet.
Also, if Toronto wants to keep Marner, sign at least a half-way decent replacement for Gardiner and add the three players they need to fill out a 21 man roster they are going to have to dump some serious salary. Like somehow free up another $9Mish dollars. |

If Cookie was able to clean it up, Kadri certainly can. Worth the risk imo.
If TO wants a half ass replacement for Gardiner, let's do a Maata Kadri swap. |
|
|
|
Kadri will be dealt it’s just a matter of time. Blackhawks might make a move on him. He’s a fringe 2C though. Teams need him more than we do and they’ll pony up. Whoever misses Hayes and Duchene will be calling TO.
As a 2C he’s a 30/55 guy but as a 3C he’s good for 30 ES points plus PP. he’s likely not going to be on PP1 here so maybe he gets 40 points as our 3C? Bjugstad has a Pens pace of 36 points and he showed flashes. If we’re giving up assets I want a legit LW not a mild upgrade for 3C |

They already have a couple of guys named Muzzin and Reilly as their top four LD's, so I don't think they're hunting for another LD. If anything, Kadri/Schultz would make sense FOR THEM, but if I'm the Pens I'm not making that move unless a plan was in place to have a viable replacement.
Besides, TOR needs to dump some salaries and spend very little money on their bottom six. I'm no Leafs expert, but I think they're going to have to let a team offer-sheet Marner and call it a day unless they can find a trade that works financially while giving them proper value. |

If TO was interested in a LD then they could trade Kadri to AZ for Oesterle, a 2nd, and a prospect which gives them the cap space they’re looking for. Maatta doesn’t give them that. I did say if though. TO is looking for RHD not left |

I understand that, just saying if they are looking for a Gardiner replacement, he is a left handed shot also. |

I brought this up earlier, but I'd attempt a Marleau/JJ swap. Marleau is still effective in a 3rd line role and would be a financial hardship on the Pens for one season while alleviating the future cap issues.
Toronto frees up $3M, Pens add $3M but can possibly find other ways of unloading salary. I'd even throw ZAR into the trade as incentive to adding JJ for all that time. ZAR will help them fill out their bottom six on the cheap. |

I would do that in a heartbeat. Marleau could slot up and down the top 9. Would be a great compliment to Geno in making up for a lack on the defensive side.
I doubt TO would take on an anchor to get one year of cap relief though They need to free up cap space for the next 5 years, not just this one. |

One year of relief is true, but this also the most important year to fix. Now, I'm sure Marleau wouldn't be that hard to move if they retained salary, but if JR works his magic? Ehhh? Ehhh?
Again though, I think Marner is as good as gone, so it's probably moot. |

You've laid out well why Kadri would be a good fit but not completely necessary. He's a nice upgrade at a good salary and is probably better suited than Bjugstad to move up to 2C during an injury. They can easily bump Bjugstad to wing.
I'm not sure I see a trade match though. They need RHD or cheap NHL talent. If Schultz doesn't want an extension then maybe though that's a big hole for next year. (Rumor is Pens will at least explore trading him if he won't sign an extension at close to the same price rather than let him walk). |

While Bjug was a much better fit than McCann for center that doesn’t mean Bjugstad isn’t a fit for wing. I actually think Bjugstad could be a very effective winger.
I think the Pens should be open to brining in a 3C, but that also doesn’t mean they still can sign another good winger like Gus or Zucc. |

Agree, Bjugstad could be used as a 3C, buy he could also be a top 6 RW and with Kessel leaving nobody really has either top 6 RW spot nailed down. Guentzel might be there if McCann is on Sid's line though that was a short experiment and Guentzel has mostly played LW. Rust, Hornqvist... |

But is the price to upgrade to Kadri and take on his baggage worth it? I don’t think so and I don’t think bringing in hayes at 6.5 is good value at 3C either unless he plays with Malkin and covers at C from time to time
What about Blueger? Remember when we were rolling in March without Geno? I thought Blueger and Bjugstad both played well and as long as they have strong wingers they should be able to plug a hole for a bit. No matter how I slice it we need a top 6 LW. I’m really fine with any of the names we’ve discussed as long as the price is right. I’m also not going to cry about Ferland without seeing how he slots in |
