Reilly, muzzin, dermott, Rosen, sandin, liljegren.
Just like the 98,99 leafs that had rookies tremblay, kaberle and markov step in, post 97 points and lose to the sabres in the 3rd round. - mykokes
True. But those guys also had hard hitting homers like DY and JS. I see a regression on an already mediocre defensive team next year. |

We can get hard hitting guys, maybe even someone like Demers out of Arizona? Shouldn't cost a lot |

Smith was never used right by Quinn. But yeah, I miss yuskevich and markov. They were tough sobs.
And yeah the d will be a little weaker, but I think the forwards will be a little to a lot better. |

Luke Schenn might be the only righty UFA they can afford. |

If they lose Gardiner, Hainsey and Zaitsev.. It will be hard.. I think they need to add 2 defensemen at the very least via trade/FA
Rielly - someone
Muzzin - someone
Rosen - Liljegren
Sandin - PatC80
Move Nyldander, which any rational fan realizes is the most appropriate move for a top 4 RHD.. solves MANY problems except for crying fanboys/girls |

Yes they can.
But unless a young guy like Sandin does it, they are not likely finding an upgrade on this guys either through the UFA market. - Scabeh
Based upon the one Marlies game I watched this year in the semi-finals, Sandin is not ready for prime time yet.

If Nylander can still get a top 4 RHD making around 5 million it's a no brainer. Gives then 2 more million to parlay into Kap/Jon. The question is if a team will be willing to pay Nylander more than they would pay one of their top 4 d men. Tough to say. |

Can Babcock be happy that Dubas keeps trying to take his "Toys" away? That's why I don't get Babs being coach.

I'd take it.
Zaitsev and Marleau both on the block, so is Trouba. What a great turn of events.
Nylander for Trouba. Marleau for Lewis. Zaitsev for anything.
This might work out. - JohnFergusonJr
Trouba’s NOT GOING TO PLAY IN CANADA.

If the Leafs were to sign Mitch at 11.5, and Kap and Jon at 3.5 each respectively, it would put them at 65 million for their forwards with around 6-7 for the tendies. That leaves around 10 or 11 for the entire d core with Muzzin, Z (assuming whatever he gets traded for the same salary comes back), Reilly, Dermott and Holl already taking up 15 million for next season. This is the definition of cap hell and imbalance. Regression is the only option, unless Dubas is entering executive of the decade territory with moves he pulls off. |

Well, we don’t have much do we?
Apparently we shouldn’t have been playing Hainsey or Zaitsev, Babcock had better players but refused or something like that.

Apparently there was some friction earlier in the year and Pesce wasn't happy with his playing time.
Might be willing to make a change. Something's gotta give if they're going to sign Faulk to an extension like they say they want to. |

Mitch isn’t getting 11.5 from the Leafs...
And the Leafs aren’t in Cap hell. It will be tough for one season. |

As per the Faulk extension, wouldn't adding 2 more million in salary make that all the more difficult? |
