Well done Michael. Thankfully you are a sane blogger who has an objective and common sense approach to writing about the Sabres.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Los Angeles Kings have reportedly been in talks regarding Patrick Marleau.
Marleau has a strong connection with Kings new head coach Todd McLellan from their time together in San Jose. The benefit to the Maple Leafs would be to shed the final season of Marleau's three-year, $18.75 million contract. Auston Matthews' five-year, $58.17 million contract is set to take effect next season and Mitch Marner will be a RFA this summer, so the Maple Leafs will want to shed salary elsewhere where they can. The Kings' cap situation isn't ideal either though, so Los Angeles would likely have to shed a contract or two as well to take on Marleau, either as part of this trade or in another move.

- SABRES 89

Why on earth would the Kings take Marleau off of Toronto's hands?

is toffoli a better option then a cap controlled nylander or a tage that adds a few lbs?

I still think our biggest needs, if/when skinner signs

a vet lw for the 2nd line (hoffman?)
a second line center (who the hell knows)
a legit #2 LD if we don't trade risto, a legit #1 RD if we trade risto

I do not think risto is a top D but the top 4 is ok with an upgrade at LD to go with dahlin, risto and montour

Their cap crisis may not be as big as some people believe, based on what I posted earlier. If the NHL's TV deal increases substantially, as many experts think it will, so will their cap space.

Who knows about Tage and Nylander.
- Nylander still trying to find his game in the AHL. Not looking good for him "to make it"
- Tage is a big wussy, puting on weight may help him, but he'll be another Myers who is 6'11" and places like a princess, foregoing his God-given attributes other guys would kill for...and has low, low IQ.
I'd move bothered of them, but would give Tage another season.
Toffoli has acrually played in the NHL, is decently fast, has good underlying metrics.

I wish they would have done a long term $5-6 million per year deal with Reinhart

But yes it's pretty tight lipped with Botterill running the show, any of the leaks out about trades usually come from the other team the Sabres are dealing with.

I am still holding out for a deal closer to $8 million per year but I really just want him locked up so they can work on fixing the real issues with this roster.

Why?

Sam had/has somewhat underperformed. (For 2oa)
Inconsistent going into last season. Inconsistent within the last 2 seasons.

If he continues improve, you pay him.

6 x 6 (6.5)

He's an rfa again. Doubt anyone offer sheets him.

Skins isnt getting 9 million average over 8 years

So you're choosing to ignore whats being reported about this?

I mean I hope he is closer to $8 million but I think it's going to be right around $9 million

If Sam has another 65-70 point season he is going to get $7 million

Yes, I'm on a hockey chat forum and I feel like 9 million is more then skinner will receive.

Similar to when I said Sam would sign for 2 years under 8 million and everyone said I was wrong.

Sam gets 70 points, he deserves 7 million per.

That suspension is the one from his actions that had Denver release him
Not something new (as far as I’m aware)
