Great write up
Sabres need to sign skins to help with the season ticket base. My understanding: its plummeting.

Okposo isn't going anywhere unless we pay for it. Dahlin, Mitts, Reinhart all due raises shortly. Still may need to bring in a real goalie.
It isn't all smiles and sunshine here. 9M for Skinner absolutely changes the complexion of our cap situation. - RhinoFan
Okposo would be the only deal remaining that is bad
The cap will rise as it has been for the last forever
Dahlin would need to win the Norris in the next 2 years or be in the discussion for him to get a deal like Eichel's.
Chances are he gets a bridge deal.
Reinhart and his $7.5 million is easily doable.
When it is all said and done the cap will be around $90 million and Okposo's $6 million will be more like a bee sting as opposed to what Vegas and the Leafs are dealing with currently. |

I wish they would have done a long term $5-6 million per year deal with Reinhart
But yes it's pretty tight lipped with Botterill running the show, any of the leaks out about trades usually come from the other team the Sabres are dealing with.
I am still holding out for a deal closer to $8 million per year but I really just want him locked up so they can work on fixing the real issues with this roster. |

It will really be interesting to see what the cap looks like 2 seasons after next. The league's TV deal with NBC is up, and barring some sort of 2008-esque economic collapse, the NHL stands to get a massive payday from the next one. |

I'm going to speculate that Botts offered but Sams team turned it down, if you argue with me I'll continue to create more speculation to support my original speculation and bury you in odd and smug remarks.

Honestly, this screams bad contract. Buffalo should not overpay and they will. Sam will have to be signed and soon it will be Dahlin with the big contract.
Anywhere north of 5M$ is overpaying. How can you pay him more than Pastrnak, Marchand or Bergeron who all makes less than 7M$. |

Hopefully a TV deal that gets them off of NBC Sports.
It could be a very large one (it should be anyway)
So like I said I am not worried about any future cap issues over a Skinner contract |

If I remember correctly there was talk of this that Sam was betting on himself.
After last season it looks like that bet is working for him |

I don't think it will. The partnership has been too benevolent over the years, so I doubt the league abandons them, nor does NBC, who has no other major sports platform other than Sunday Night Football and the Premier League.
What I do hope for is a multi-network TV deal that gets at least one of ESPN, Fox or even Turner/CBS (doubtful) involved. NBC paid a premium for exclusivity (as did Sportsnet in Canada) the last time around, however. |

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Los Angeles Kings have reportedly been in talks regarding Patrick Marleau.
Marleau has a strong connection with Kings new head coach Todd McLellan from their time together in San Jose. The benefit to the Maple Leafs would be to shed the final season of Marleau's three-year, $18.75 million contract. Auston Matthews' five-year, $58.17 million contract is set to take effect next season and Mitch Marner will be a RFA this summer, so the Maple Leafs will want to shed salary elsewhere where they can. The Kings' cap situation isn't ideal either though, so Los Angeles would likely have to shed a contract or two as well to take on Marleau, either as part of this trade or in another move. |

And it allowed Botts more time to evaluate, if his trend continues the substantial raise will be welcomed |
