Eichel still has work to do, to become a complete player. He’s the captain, if others see the captain not backchecking hard or being lazy. They will think it’s okay and acceptable.

This team hasn't had a consistent cast of useful hockey players around Jack in his 4 years here.

They had Kane, O'Reilly, Sam and nothing. Especially on defense.

Then they draft a soon to be stud D man, and besides Skins and Sam, they have less than nothing.

Bash the kid when he actually has a legit 2nd line to help him, and an actual bottom 6 that's worth a (frank), and more than 1 or 2 good defensemen.

I think what most of us are saying is, he can't do it alone. McDavid can't do it alone, Crosby ((frank), look at the players they put around THAT GUY) couldn't do it alone. Heck, neither could Gretzky.

I don't necessarily think Hall will go there, but, as I said on Friday, the league's new TV contract at the end of 2020-2021 is going to automatically fix a lot of team's cap problems. They probably could make it work if they're willing to bite the bullet for a year.

I'd like to point out that McDavid has Draistail and they are the first team in NHL history to have 2 100 point players in the same season and not make the playoffs since 1989 Penguins.
