If Eichel and Sam played a full 82 together I think Eichel would get 40 and Sam would get 30. - Pegullaville
Sam is far more likely to become a 30g 80pt guy than regress at all. They should line him up for an extension right after they sign Skinner. |

If botts didnt trade away O'Reilly we would have made the playoffs last year.
Skinner/Eichel/who cares
Sheary/O'Reilly/Reinhart - Mentalorgasm5
If RoR stayed, Skinner isn't here.

What’s the over under on when people start to complain about Skinner’s contract ? 2 maybe 3 years ? - Pegullaville
When he is on pace to score less than say 35 goals per.
That contract, IMO is predicated on a perennial 40 G's...
Stry too far and let the sh1tshow begin. |

Why not? We wouldnt have had Sbotka and Berglund. Cap wouldnt have been an issue.
If Botts was thinking the same, kick him to the curb. He needs to add and improve, not just look for lateral moves. |

Skinner has the speed where he wont drop off big time when it hits his 30s. This team is set up that they will not be in a cap crunch. By the time they are paying Dahlin, too many contracts all falling off the books.
Im sick of the argument in 3 or 4 years ahead we wont have space, so we should not acquire good players. Look at the results.
Not to mention the cap will have a big jump when Seattle enters the league, and a new TV deal. Cap isnt a concern right now. Acquire talent. - Mentalorgasm5
Sound logic. |

Long term salary commitments mater, a lot. JB's acknowledged that moving RoR allowed him the cap flexibility to add and attempt to resign Skinner. |

"Terrible 2OA pick"
"Can't dive his own line"
"Can't produce away from Jack"
"Garbage goals"
"Below average shot"
"Too slow"
"Parties too much"
"Weak in his own zone"
I think 5x5 would sound really good about now, for a bum like Sam. - PrinceChill

I’d rather pick top 10 again next year and be a juggernaut the next 15 seasons and back up the brinks truck for Taylor Hall. - Pegullaville

Why not? How could a plan centered on signing Hall as a UFA possibly go wrong?

Again, this team has no problems long term. They dont have players signed long term.
Botts should have kept O'Reilly, simple as that. Now there is talks we are looking at Duchene for more money and longer term than O'Reilly. Sort of contradicts the issue for long term issues. |

The top 10 pick in 2020 would be the centrepiece. Scouts are already comparing 2020 to 2015.
The Sabres need to start winning though for the sanity of the fan base. |

Smh. I heard scouts compare Hall as a player who can net 30 goals and a point per game. Im looking into the truth to these claims. |

he could hit 50 on jack's wing, could is a big word and rumors are he wants 10 mil per
yet several posters here do not want to pay skinner more then 7 mil and he did score 40 goals on jack's wing
I seriously doubt a line of skinner, eichel and laine would get 120 goals and laine was demoted to the 3rd line for his lack of effort - homiedclown
I don't know that I'd pay Laine $10M, but 6 years is a huge difference.
But that also opens up a huge hole on the left side. Sheary becomes the de facto 1LW if they signed Laine over Skinner. |

Didn’t Hall do that last year when he won the Hart ? This year he would have done it again until he got hurt. Hall is a top 5 LW in then NHL. |

True. The simple fact that they wouldnt have cap issues makes it right. Facts, they are kind of scary. |

No, it doesn't. Sign a moderate UFA this year, pay an average price for your goaltending, and forecast this team 3, 4, 5 years out. You'll see quickly that there are significant cap issues to consider that impact your decisions today. |

How would people feel about Sami Vatanen ( 1 year at 4.875), Pavel Zacha, and NJ's 2nd for Risto? - Mentalorgasm5
Zacha is not good, and Vatanen had an awful year. He was better on the Ducks. |

Already did, it really isnt difficult. Hence why this team sucks. Keeping looking a decade out. |

i'm not sure botts was really enamored with him...and i'm pretty sure that $7.5m aav, didn't sit too well either...I think he got out when he could and took the near-term hit just to do so |
