Video Scouting...

The Sabres did that to themselves IMO

Still, you'd think Regier would have been watching the first round prospects in person. Right?

I'd rather have Zegras.

He is a fantastic set-up man. His shot isn't too shabby either. I wouldn't be disappointed.

Frankly I'm more interested in what the team does in June than I am from what Darcy and Murray did to this team.

I like the guys Botts picked up the past 2 years in the draft. A lot of promising players that haven't proven anything yet. Hope to see Pekar and Bryson adjust to the AHL. Botts snagged a real nice UDFA in Pilut. UPL looks great. Laaksonen came out of no where. Hopefully the org is still high on Samuelsson, but he had a nice WJC tourney.

Weissbach and Cronholm have done good as well

Weissbach seems to have a lot of Oloffson in him, small offensive swede..certainly not the goal scoring. Kid needs to build strength and two way, but he's encouraging, putting up numbers as a freshman in the NCAA..

I heard Conholm was doing alright, I haven't read much about him though.

Hopefully Turcotte will play with Weissbach at Wisconsin.

playing in a league with men

pretty bad team and he has their best +/-
second in terms of points on the team for a d man

it is a low scoring league though

the one thing I like about what is going on with the sabres prospects in rochester

1. they took their time with asplund at first, playing him on a lower line
2. they went out of their way to put asplund and olofsson on the pk

almost as if they are putting potential nhl'ers in a position to be an all around player once they get the call

well he's a 4th rounder and for some weird reason we've had recent success with 4th rounders in the minor leagues, so here's to hoping he's another hit. Hopefully Baker gives us a comprehensive prospect update soon.

I've noticed they are doing a great job slotting players more appropriately.

Example 1, Johan Larsson, being totally confused about his role in the org. Now they have guys playing their appropriate positions and how they'll likely translate to the NHL. Which is great. Asplund might be a PK guy throughout his career, but I think sticking Olofsson in there signifies his improvement in the defensive side of his game. I'm pretty sure he's not going to be that here, but having that ability will develop his abilities in his own end. Which is great.

are these happy coincidences or does GMJB have a long term vision that he is playing out in hopes he is around to pick the fruit

I remember the days when I used to think that Connor Hurley was going to be a STUD for us....

Eric Cornel had 83 pts in 68 games in his last OHL year and now barely gets 20 pts in a full AHL season.

How about Brandon Hagel.... dude dropped 102 pts in 66 games for Red Deer then we let him walk only for him to sign with Chicago?

Karabacek hasn't scored a goal in a professional game since a 2015 ECHL game.

I would think that Botts was smart enough to counsel Pegula's on a multiple year plan, not a quick fix given the state of affairs he inherited.
I would imagine he told them minimum of 3 years to even begin to compete. he made reference to not believing they were "there" when they had the 10 game anomaly.

That is a painful list. Wasn't Hurley really young when he was picked and that was supposed to be an advantage? I thought Glotov was gonna be what Olo is turning into.
Well for now, we can still tell ourselves that Sean Malone is gonna turn into a totally bi!chin' penalty killing bottom 6 guy...

Yea... it was something like Hurley entered the draft 1 year too early and if he would have waited 1 more year he could have been top 10 or something. That was what I put in my mind bank at least.

I mean... he didn't register a point for the Chicago Wolves this past year but yea... IDK why they let a dude dropping 102 pts just walk.

I remember thinking "Possler's killer speed and shot" were gonna be like Olofsson too. Torn ACL.. never signed.

The logic was sound to me too. Too bad it didn't work. So who in the system are we deluding ourselves about now? CJ Smith?
Not sure how much faith there is for these guys but, Olgevie, O'Regan, Dougherty, Hickey, and Leier?
Too early to talk in a fair way about JB's picks, but there will be a good portion of false hope for those guys as well. Just gotta hope the hit-rate increases.

I'm just hoping someone before us falls in love with Pod.

Can any of the teams speak with pod or his agent? Was he at the combine?

Just wondering if teams are taking a wild guess uf they draft him?

Having serviceable depth guys around is important, and how you win in the AHL. We'd probably have a cup if Darcy was better about that. I don't think any of those guys were viewed as more when we acquired them.

Of the guys you named... I don't see any of their ceilings being in the NHL personally.

I'm more worried about guys like.... Davidsson, Laaksonen, Murray, Samuelsson, Pekar, etc.

Murray looked bloody WICKED in the USHL. We have a team in my town so I saw him play. 76 pts and 41 goals in 62 games. At 6'5 235 lbs man he is already ready for the size part of the game. I just don't get the whole go 2 PSU for 2 years, drop out to play in the USHL for this past year... and now he's going back to Miami (OH) to play.

I kinda thought Darcy went safe with his picks, instead of swinging for the fences.

Trying to tab nhl players.

Also the vanek pick alone by reiger is better then any pick gmtm made, aside from John Jack

Sam instead of leon
Jack
Nylander instead of many

No idea. He was solidly in the top5 before, now looking like he could slip into the teens.

Not sure what's going on.
