According to a source, pending UFA Erik Karlsson would like to get offers from Ottawa and Montreal.
The Senators tried to sign Karlsson before they felt forced to trade him to San Jose, so it's unclear how the situation would be any different this time around. Still, there appears to be some hope because his wife, Melinda, would like to live close to her family again. She was born and raised in Ottawa. Karlsson will have plenty of interested suitors and he wants to win, so it would be highly unlikely that a return to Ottawa would be in the cards. Perhaps a team close to Ottawa would be a better fit for him and his wife when they consider their options. |

won a series in the playoffs
what is our playoff record the last 4 seasons?
the sabres are the new oilers, laughing stock of the nhl - homiedclown
This is the newest and dumbest thing that gets repeated here so much.
No one in this world compares to how bad the Oil have drafted, have many bust 1st overall picks they have, how bad their trades have been, or how many TERRRRRRIBLE contracts they have handed out.
The sabres... let me guess... we are a laughing stock because our goal song, our old arena, our game presentation, and a bunch of other old man yells at a cloud type scenario sh1t. |

pretty sure matthews has the most 5 on 5 goals per game in the nhl since he joined the league, so maybe they can flip it to that |

In fairness though.. the original question was what has the teams record been in Eichel's first year as a dig at the team's depth. If anything, you mentioned how much better McDavid is at individual accomplishments but STILL even worse in terms of team's record with him.... is a great argument.
Not to mention, McDavid even has another 100 pt scorer on his team and still finished worse than the Sabres. |

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, another source believes that the Yankees are going to land Dallas Keuchel and that they are emerging as the "true favorites" to sign him.
This comes just minutes after Feinsand reported that the Yankees and Braves were the favorites and that their offers were believed to be similar. Perhaps something changed overnight, but it wouldn't be a shock to hear the Yankees have jumped in front. They could use another quality arm as the year moves along. All signs point to this situation moving quickly now that draft pick compensation is no longer an issue.
This is good for me - SABRES 89
Here’s hoping the Braves sign him and Kimbrel. |

And everyone there, except Sam, is new.
And there's still no second line behind them.
Crosby had Malkin, and Malkin had Staal behind him. Letang, Fluery, etc etc etc.
The greatest player of all time had Messier, Kurri, Anderson, Coffey, Lowe, Fuhr, Moog, etc etc etc.
Mario had Jagr, Francis, Barrasso, Coffey, Stevens...
The man needs more help.

I have to disagree with this notion.
A #1 overall pick is great sure... but he is unproven and not sure how or if his game will translate.
Why would you trade a 22 year old PPG+ proven 1C in the NHL for that? Just because he has earned a big contract? I don't agree.
A proven 1C is a lot harder to find IMO. - JVince11
Interesting to think about from NJs POV
Would they rather have Eichel, Hischier down the middle- or Hughes/Hischier?
Also...
would trading for Eichel entice Hall to stay more than drafting Hughes? |

You have noticed that the buffalo Sabres haven't exactly been trying to all out "win" in a decade.
Dont give up yet homie.
Maybe I'm wrong, but phail lousley was a terrible coach.
Botts has been holding back and waiting for bad gmtm contracts to slowly decline.
It hasn't been about winning, at some point it will be.

Why wait for 2020...
Eichel to NJ for 1stOA
Dahlin to Rags for 2ndOA
Skinner to Chi for 3rdOA
Reino (+) to Colorado for 4th
Mitts to LA for 5thOA
Montour to Detroit for 6thOA
In the 2019 NHL Draft the Buffalo Sabres select:
1st - Kappo
2nd - Jack Hughes
3rd - Turcotte
4th - Byram
5th - Cozens
6th - Cole Caufield
7th - Boldy
Only question is can they trade 30/31 + Nylander and 2020 2nd
For
Another to grab one of Krebs or Newhook - IonSabres
If this was ALL possible... YES, please!
Let me attempt to be a little more realistic though
Eichel for 1OA (Hughes)
Mitts + Risto for 3OA (Byram)
Sam + Montour for 4OA (Turcotte)
*could these trades actually happen???
Pick Caufield 7th
Try & trade up from 31 (yes, 31 😂) to get Spencer Knight
This team finishes with a top3 pick next year
So add another stud...
For fun, let’s just say Lafreniere
Lafreniere-Hughes-______
______-Turcotte-Caufield
Olofsson-Asplund-Nylander
*or Lafreniere can play 1C/2C and we are crazy deep down the middle
*the other 2 spots in the top6 could be UFA vets that we sign to help lead the kids
Dahlin-_____ (ufa vet)
Byram-_____ (Borgen?)
Pilut-_____ (Laaksonen?)
*just got find decent defensive partners for top4
*maybe Borgen or Laaksonen?
UPL/Knight
*a real good chance one of those guys develops into a Top10 goalie... if not both
Of course... there’s no way this could really happen
But if it was possible,
I’d do it in a heartbeat
Ok... back to reality |

Yeah but, emerging samson.....
Emerging and having a 100 point season are similar right?
Especially when the player is the posters " favorite current Sabres player"
We would be much much better with leon then sam.

Excellent. I hope he signs.
Plus the team is finally inching to being healthy again.. more or less. It will be nice to get Didi, Stanton and Judge back. |
